I can't find a link for this, but it was in the early 1950s, in the Marunouchi district of Tokyo. There was a bank robbery but it failed because as the robbers were leaving the bank, the pedestrians who just happened to be walking by all stopped and swarmed all over the robbers. These Dozens of random pedestrians stopped whatever they were doing and wherever they were going and spontaneously came together to beat the shit out of the robbers with their bare hands and return the money to the bank.

I can't help but think that that kind of public-spirited righteousness would be hard to find today, anywhere in the world. And yet the world has never been more in need of this spirit.

Nowadays it's the banks that do the robbing.
If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.

That's an interesting thought.

These days they call sports people "heroes"... it's such a throw-away term now.

Consider. If you get caught robbing a bank you'd get a ten year stretch in jail. Yet if you rape or physically attack a person, you'll likely get half that punishment.

Go figure.
