Did anyone else see objects moving outside our atmosphere last night during lyrid storm?
I live in a mostly rural area. I mean it's not completely dark here, but pretty close. My wife and I decided to go outside to see if we could see any lyrids. After a few mins we saw one. Huge tail, just like predicted...... After another few mins, my wife spotted something strange moving in the sky. I told her it was just a satellite.. We do see them on occasion. Almost immediately after we spotted it, we flowed it thru the sky. It was moving at tremendous speeds. Almost as it was out of sight, I couldn't believe my eyes when it crossed paths with which looked to be another satellite! Almost perfectly perpendicular to the first. Never have I seen two satellites pass eachother in the sky. We proceeded to stay outside and look for more... We saw a total of 7 objects moving all directions in the sky. Def the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my 20 some odd years of looking up at night.

I'm sure someone will post the site that you can find satellites above you..
Like I've said, I've seen plenty of satellites as well as the iss above my house. But this was unreal!

Anyone in MA see anything like this last night. We cant be the only one who saw them......

And after two hours, we only saw three lyrids, which was a little disappointing lol. I think we saw something even better.

Where's dr. Astro? I would really like him to tell me why the odds are that I would see multiple satellites cross paths in orbit?

I've seen satellites, I've even seen what I assume to be satellites cross paths. I didn't see anything at all last night though. Maybe I started too late or quit too early. Some nights are waaay busy up there. We usually have very little light pollution. With the moon so bright and it being partially cloudy last night, I'm guessing I just could not see what you saw.

Are satellites more easily seen in the early stages after sunset?

I cant believe 6 or 7 satellites were intersecting up there... Its either ufo's or some asteroid defence system we'll find out about 20 years from now.

I've noticed their peak activity time is usually between 6-7est. For my viewing area anyway. I don't think I've ever seen one much later than that. I've heard people saying they see them during the daytime. So, maybe it depends on location.

Its not like it's super dark here either. There's streetlights in front of the house and annoying neighbors who leave lights on... I could imagine what I could've seen with out light pollution

Most defiantly , I often go out with my son after sunset satellight spotting,
We live near the city and still see many of them , like 20 in an hour , you've seen satellights for sure , go out again on a clear night and try the experiment again , I'd be surprised if you don't get the same result , you see them more after sunset and before sunrise because there not in the earths shadow like they would be in the middle of the night

That's what I wondered when I saw it (might've been on this very forum). The most I see during the day are the jets leaving trails. But, who knows? I can neither confirm nor deny what they say they saw. Lol

I go outside after sunset all the time. Mostly to rid my mind of child craziness lol. I lay on a chair and look up. I've never seen two cross paths like that. It's not like they were close, they were on top of eachother! Amazing.
