Those of us who know history or have researched know that we began to send "advisors" to Viet Nam in 1965 and earlier. The word choice from the link is pretty telling by Kirby. (He's a rear admiral alright...) Snip - "Since Russia's aggression in the Ukraine, we have been constantly looking at ways to reassure our allies and partners," Rear Admiral John Kirby told a news conference. The deployment of US troops is "a very tangible representation of our commitment to our security obligations in Europe," he said. The move also sent a "message to Moscow" that "we take our obligations very, very seriously on the continent of Europe." |

Just like the run-up to both Gulf Wars, etc... Which means Putin has a window of opportunity probably for the next 6 months where he will essentially have a free hand... IF that is, we are going to even do anything about this beyond hand-wringing, strong words and symbolic gestures. And I'm not convinced of that. I'm thinking if there were serious plans afoot to go in there, that you'd already be seeing a major military build up on our part... Equipment and materiel being moved and staged for shipment, things like that. My be is that Obumble-dunce is going to sit around with his thumb up his butt whining about this... Which is a perfectly typical Liberal reaction to such things. Obama like all of our Socialist parasites is basiclly a coward, having NO CLUE about how to effectively wield the POWER of aggression without fraking up more stuff than they solve. |

Not that I wouldn't put it past them, either. But like I said above, this is an empty symbolic gesture that will accomplish nothing while putting our personnel in danger and probably only inflaming the situation. Fraking Leftists... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 54607220 United States 04/22/2014 08:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | LOL! We have been living in World War 3 for 25+ years. This is not a war of guns, or a war of armies. This world war is a war of enslavement, and unfortunately every man or woman of any nation is victim. The NSA is spying on you, the corporations run the world, and the IMF and World Bank are private owned businesses, which operate above the law much like the Federal Reserve. You are all so hell-bent on Doom happening in the form of missiles or nukes being launched, when you don't even realize you have been LIVING IN WW3 for decades. Wake up, people. You are slaves. This is the war. Slave against "master". Unfortunately for the "masters" the gig is up and their prisons are crumbling all around them, revealing the lonely rich white men inside the computer room pulling on all the strings. Peace and love are the solution to war. And this war is being fought right now. |

If any USA troops are killed. The USA will have the thing it needs for public support for war with Russia. There is no other reason for troops 600 is nothing. Military hardware and support is enouigh to show support the troops are BAIT or a BLOCKING MOVE. |

U.S. military commanders perform a hard strike from above to destroy Russia before she has time to react. A low earth orbit platform of warheads reach their targets in over Russia in less that 12 minutes. Hyper-sonic with no launch signature. Just have to be sure of overkill. What do you think were on all those "spy satellite" rocket launches over the last decade? |

Military hardware and support is enouigh to show support the troops are BAIT or a BLOCKING MOVE. Quoting: Shuracane Can't be a blocking move, as a 600-strong battalion wouldn't even begin to block anything as big as the Russian army. Even in the small and under-equipped, undermanned, underfunded Canadian Army, 600 men is an understrength battalion. It's not bait, either. But it is a tripwire. It's game on if the Russians engage US or Polish forces after accidentally crossing the border and mistaking the US/Polish troops as Ukrainian terrorists. The scary thing is that the Second World War started in much the same way - the Polish started shooting at the Germans or vice versa, the history books still aren't clear on who fired first. I think what it all boils down to is this: Russia doesn't want a war, it just wants Ukraine - or a big enough chunk of it that will let them look after their strategic imperatives. By the same token, the US and its allies want all of Ukraine for its natural resources - and because it is the linchpin that would permit NATO to permanently encircle Russia. That said, I don't think this is the start of a Third World War, and I hope I'm not wrong. If we were looking at a full-on combat deployment that would presage a war, you would see entire divisions being moved in a hurry. |
