What makes a royal family royal?
How did they become royal and how do families make themselves this way?
I know some of them are descended from certain bloodlines, but not all of them are, even the ones who are, who cares? Most people don't even know about the bloodline situation so what makes them special to begin with?

Re: What makes a royal family royal?
Royal comes fro regalis or regal in English.

regalis--rex, a king--regere, to rule.

King comes from old English cyning, which is cynn (a tribe) with the suffix -ing.

Is it really a status thing that they have passed on for centuries? Is it their actions? Are they genetically superior and smarter than everyone else? There has to be something, at least, I wold assume.

Okay, time for my stuff again.

It's me, one of allegedly multiple people fitting the nobody meme, and my theme number is 56.

 Quoting: The Magus

According to Claude of Saint-Martin, this number represents "the perverse Being to grips with the principles of the nature and surrendered to his own justice; the Spirit of the Universe ascending to its source".

This one declares that "the law of the number fifty six, terrifying law, dreadful for those which are exposed to it".

 Quoting: rekameohsnad

Unit number.

History is the tale in the march for king and Queens there is nothing royal except their tale. There were families who were kings and Queens before the ones now, they beheaded and murdered to gain the throne. No nice people, and they keep it in the family if you do what is told. They marry kin, that would really keep that blood blue.

Everyone has blue blood before it hit oxygen. These kings and Queen are on a chessboard and there is others pulling the strings. The moves they make across the board is by those strings. Any of you want to be Royals?

Yes they ruthlessly exercised absolute power. Sometimes they were deposed by other waring families. Today's European royal families are just a shadow of their bloddy ancestors with no power, little wealth and just some of their prestige left.

Insanity.

Statism is a dangerous and destructive mental illness.
"Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based of five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, or county commissioners." - Edward Abbey

"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist." -Lysander Spooner

"If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skin into their clothing, and if we're very very lucky, they'll do it in that order." - Firefly

That is the continuation that of. What made in the first place? Coin and the muscle to back it up.

Now why a king is so special? The land owners used religion to control the people. The biblicals, not just bible but many others, write that who ever their god is mad kings to keep over the people. Regardless of who the god is the biblical source or the existence of the god, it has been used as an excuse to take for others.

In the past, royals believed their appointment was from God. Recent monarchs will say, luck of the draw. There is nothing special about royals on earth. Its not like their blood has divine powers or anything.

Belief and ignorance of history, outright historical revisionism.

They all had murderous and bloody inceptions and were tyrannical.

Lots of inbreeding in that lot maybe has bred out the more despicable traits though, or maybe it's just belief that they are somehow "special" that keeps them afloat.

Re: What makes a royal family royal?
The ancient Pagan kings of the UK had a family tree the traced back to Odin the Norse God. Supposedly the UK royal family still keeps this genealogy up to date somehow.

The Japanese Imperial family traces its lineage back to the Shinto Sun Goddess.

There is usually some kind of ancient diety invoked if the Royal House is old enough I would guess.

The other family I've heard about were the Romanov Tsars. They claimed descent from the ancient Roman Emperors through a marriage of the daughter of the last Eastern (Byzantine) Emperor to the then-Prince of Muscovy. This is the origin of the name "Romanov" ("of Rome"). Technically the Tsars considered themselves Roman Emperors in Moscow which they called the "third Rome" (after Rome itself and then Byzantium). The word "Tsar" is a Russian pronunciation of "Ceasar."

I still would not like to live in that gilded cage no matter what wealth it comes with, look at Queenie, she is out there all the time, from when she was driving her ambulance during WW2 to today, matched with an expectation you'll send you kids to war, and every one looking to you for answers, all in all it does not sound like the kind of life I want to lead..
