Are you Russian or Ukrainian by any chance OP?

Both a grandfather of each & Russian grandmothers.
& Canadian)))

Why?
 Quoting: M1.618

Because in a former post you had called Jesus some name that I had never heard before and when I googled it, only Russian foreign language sites came up.

And you had also mentioned the AK-47 in a different post, and AKs are Russian weapons.

Just curious as you seem to have a lot of interest in the Russian conflict.

Re: Why are the Russians unconcerned with Fuku?
They have the experience with Chernobyl & you would think Putin would understand the implications of not dealing with it.
 Quoting: M1.618

How exactly do you expect Russia to deal with it? They can't invade Japan, kick out TEPCO, and take over.

It's in Japan, it's really up to the Japanese to deal with it. Russia can't do anything, and it would be pointless for Russia to issue press releases saying that it should be cleaned up. Everybody can say it should be cleaned up, the problem is that nobody can actually clean it up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57289191

As inept as TEPCO has been handling this disaster invading and taking over would have been a pretty good idea by the international community at large. After all - the effects of Fukushima has, and continues to have, a global impact. The US media has been complacent in the cover-up of this disaster as has been the POTUS

The cover-up has lasted three years now with hundreds of tons of highly radioactive water dumped into the Pacific each day - it is questionable whether anything could be done at this point. Honesty from the POTUS and the media would be a fresh start though.

Current situation: other countries can express concern and offer to help, but aren't responsible for what happens.

Invade and take over: invaders are completely responsible for anything that happens there. If it gets worse, everybody will say it's their fault that it got worse. If they fix it they are heroes.

If the situation is impossible to fix, then invading simply gets you into the situation where it's all your fault when everything goes wrong. It's all going to go BIG BADA BOOOM sooner or later. They can't fix it.

That's why NOBODY will take over from TEPCO. Once those reactors go completely out of control forever, TEPCO will take the blame. Nobody will take over and put themselves in that position.

Fuku is an ELE.

Putin signed a bill of secrecy regarding Fuku several months ago. There was a thread regarding this.
 Quoting: Solitas Steller

If true this could be an ELE, I will check it out.
 Quoting: M1.618

It might not necessarily be an ELE. But enough people will die from it that if it got out, the nuclear power industry would be completely shut down completely.

And yes. TPTB would have to sacrifice quite a few people in order to keep the masses in line.
 Quoting: Solitas Steller

Could not find thread, & I agree Fuku is probably really bad ...
weird that Russian academia is silent.
 Quoting: M1.618

Our specialists from the first days offered help.
Later I read theirs angry articles that the japanese side just ignored us. In addition, we subsequently offered filters "Lotus" for cleaning contaminated radioactive water.1dunno1

If someone down the block paints his house pink - I may not like it but its his house. If his house is a raging inferno and he is trying to put it out with 1/2 lb of of pressure from a sprinkler hose - I am going to watch him very intently and notice his stupidity. When the two houses next to him that he owns become a raging inferno and he has caught the fields surrounding the neighborhood on fire as well, and the idiot is still trying to handle the fire with a sprinkler - I would gather my neighbors together and figure out a plan to save our houses! The idiot may let his own house turn to ashes but I'll be damned if I will stand by and let him burn down my house because of his stupidity.

A rough analogy but you get my drift. Do we stand by and let Japan poison the entire earth because they were stupid enough to build 4 reactors, at sea level, along the pacific ring of fire, in a country where there are earthquakes practically every day and tsunami's are common, and when the Big One finally hits, they get in over their heads and look like a Japanese version of the Keystone Cops - the only thing for us to do is shrug our shoulders and say "oh, well" when they refuse help?

But I will certainly agree with you that the genie is out of the bottle and its too late to put it back in. The opportunity has come and gone in my opinion. The leaders of our world have failed us miserably. And the majority of worlds population either doesn't know - or doesn't care.

Re: Why are the Russians unconcerned with Fuku?
the real difference there is that putting out house fires is possible, people do it every day and have done for thousands of years.

fixing the Fukushima reactors is impossible. cleaning it up is impossible. containing it is impossible. even keeping it at the current level of disaster is impossible.

eventually it's going to get hit by an earthquake, tsunami, typhoon, fire, or SOMETHING that is going to make the situation completely out of control and unable to be controlled for a very long time.

it's just a matter of time before the whole thing goes up. nobody can possibly stop it.

Re: Why are the Russians unconcerned with Fuku?
because russia is apart of the iter project and they need the tritium for it....

maybe you dont understand the smelting process with radio active material and what they need for the iter reactor.

Tritium is an important fuel for controlled nuclear fusion in both magnetic confinement and inertial confinement fusion reactor designs. The experimental fusion reactor ITER and the National Ignition Facility (NIF) will use deuterium-tritium fuel. The deuterium-tritium reaction is favorable since it has the largest fusion cross-section (about 5.0 barns) and it reaches this maximum cross-section at the lowest energy (about 65 keV center-of-mass) of any potential fusion fuel.

The Tritium Systems Test Assembly (TSTA) was a facility at the Los Alamos National Laboratory dedicated to the development and demonstration of technologies required for fusion-relevant deuterium-tritium processing.

this is not even 1/35 of the price for the new Sarcophagus!

And nothing when you see what they need to do in Chernobylo,
think about all the contaminated Soil around the Plant where you still
find fragments of the Fuel, think about all the Caterpillars, Helicopter, Trucks, etc. who still are there!

The Russians do not even take their Gas Masks and Suits with them after they left!

Chernobyl is still a Catastrophe but Propaganda Media like Rt and Enenews will never speak about it because it is really bad!

You will even find much more contaminated Groundwater in Chernobyl!

Sounds to me like the pot is calling the kettle black. Turning the focus from Fukushima onto Russia? Last I heard, Chernobyl had ONE reactor go into meltdown and they immediately went to work to contain the meltdown. Lets see now, Fukushima has THREE reactors in meltdown and three years later they still don't even know where the molten masses ARE, let alone a plan for containment!

I would stick to Sociology - nuclear energy is not your forte. Thinking happy thoughts is not an effective way to deal with a nuclear disaster.

An extremely sad situation. We are just now having to deal with the ramifications of using nuclear energy to boil water. Einstein said it was a pretty stupid idea - and it continues to be a stupid idea. Trusting fallible human beings to control a nuclear radioactive reaction where it gets hot enough to boil water, but not hot enough to go into meltdown condition is a very dangerous game of throwing the dice. Eventually, you will come up with snake eyes.

Those who think nuclear energy is safe and that Chernobyl and Fukushima are isolated incidents are naive and ignorant of the facts.

We are throwing the dice with hundreds of nuclear reactors all over the world.

@ Honey,

you don't even see the difference between one fully exploded, expelled and burned Core and three plain molten Cores, exactly this is showing me that you (don't want to) know anything and understand nothing!

You may do not know that in Chernobyl
you still find Fragments of this Core all around the Reactor,
you also don't know that Chernobyl is sitting directly in one of the biggest
Wetlands of Europe and you don't understand that the only thing they had done (in Soviet Russia) was to send hundreds of thousands of People in to their unneeded Death!

You need to learn a lot, use the 28 Year Anniversary to research the Facts!

"But" Fukushima is very, very bad too!

The main Difference between Soviet Russia and Japan is that we cant/ don't want to lose the Soil and the Home of Fukushima!

Soviet Russia did not care about it because the Soviet System was and is a Crime against Humanity!

ON A BEACH NEXT TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN is madness!

the wildest most stormy ocean in the world, and they are trying to clean up multiple broken reactors on a beach right next to it.

imagine if the broken reactors were inland, maybe next to a river or lake. then they might be able to build a sarcophagus over it. building on a beach is MUCH harder.

WTF!!! Dismantle the Station??? Are you serious??? This is not a joke is it??

75% of Nuclear Power Stations sitting in Earthquake Zones and all of them are close to the water! Are you talking about Japan in particular, or the world in general? This assertion is almost to absurd to comment on.

So let me get this straight: TEPCO decides to build 4 nuclear reactors in a country that lies along the Ring of Fire (which has continuous earthquakes and numerous volcano's), there is a long history of tsunami's due to the earthquakes, they build the reactors right on the edge of the ocean, and if all of this is not enough, they decide to build the area to store the radioactive spent fuel rods 130 feet above the ground on top of the reactor!!

If this doesn't qualify for the most insane idea ever conceived - I don't know what does! So a 9 magnitude quake hits just offshore of the island, the expected tsunami washes inland killing thousands of people and flooding the nuclear plant disabling automatic backup devices and chaos ensues. IS ANYONE SURPRISED? A 5 year old could have predicted this.
