20 years ago most cats in our neighborhood were allowed outdoors, nowadays most are locked up inside the house. There were more song birds then. The real reason of disappearing wildlife is man-made environmental pollution, it's ridiculous to setup cats as scapegoat.

The number of cats has risen dramatically. 20 years ago, only farmers owned cats. Today, the urban areas are overcrowded with cats because they are a low maintenance pet.
