The earthquake information delivered through Bigquake notifications is
preliminary. Subsequent review usually results in some revision to the

before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or
the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational
consequences. Earthquakes are a common occurrence, and many are either
not large enough to cause damage or not located sufficiently close to
populations centers to produce damage. This e-mail does not imply an
impending threat.

Bigquake is an informational tool and NOT an earthquake or tsunami
warning system. The USGS does not produce tsunami warnings. For the
information about tsunamis, please refer to the information given in
the NOAA website [link to tsunami.gov] .

Events of magnitude 6.5 or greater are generally reviewed and posted to
Bigquake within 2 hours of their occurrence and events of magnitude 5.5
to 6.5 are generally posted to Bigquake within 24 hours.

Additionally,
processing and sending the messages typically takes 30 minutes. The USGS
cannot guarantee the receipt or timeliness of an e-mail after sending.

You will continue to receive messages like this when earthquakes occur
that have magnitude 5.5 or greater anywhere in the world OR 4.5 or greater
in the contiguous US, Hawaii, and Alaska (excluding the Aleutian Islands).

Polly: Alaska has been shaking pretty bad for the last week and a half. Supposed to be part of bigger things to come supposedly.

Pink do you know of any closer to this volcano?

I'm must wondering if there's any relationship to the San Andreas fault.

The other night I heard that they believe that fault line is "full", if I remember correctly, and that the build up of pressure could cause a major earthquake out in CA.

Thanks for that link, Pink.

I'll check it out.

Some of my Mother's neighbor's in-laws live out in CA, and they're talking about coming in for an extended stay. They're retired and can just pick up and go.

That's the only problem with earthquakes...you just never know when...sigh.

Good article, Pink! That's what I heard, the pent-up energy is about to be released at any time.

"The observed strain rates confirm that the southern section of the San Andreas fault may be approaching the end of the interseismic phase of the earthquake cycle,"

Imagine. They think the lateral move would be 7 to 10 meters. Dayum.

Thanks, again, Pink.

Yeah, actually I wouldn't mind staying home this Summer. I'm having hand surgery Tuesday and it'll be a bummer going on vacation with a cast on. And yes, I'm a bit nervous about the quakes. But if it happens, it's supposed to happen like within this week or the next. At least that's what's been predicted.

If it happens Polly within that time frame, then I guess I really won't be going. Your relatives are smart. I heard a lot of people were moving out of CA. Who could afford it anyway!

They're actually my Mom's neighbor's relatives, Pink, but, Maureen's been threatening to move back east for years.

Not only is the housing ridiculous, price-wise, but she said the funniest thing the last time she was in. She goes, "California is NOT a place to grow old!", then proceded to tell us a story about an elderly woman she saw dressed in leopard print, skin tight stretch pants and a tight black knit blouse, HEELS, white-blond hair fixed in some kind of "do", and carrying a poodle, lol!! She said, back east, the grandmom would've been in a nice flowered dress, playing bingo, which she likes to do.

Well, stay safe, woman!!

Hey I saw this chick in Disneyland the last time I was there. She had on pink leggings and tube top and had blonde hair. I was looking at her from behind when she turned around she was like 70.

Only in California!!

ahhh

Have a good night Polly.

Oh, Pink! I can't imagine having an operation like that. You have my sympathies. Maybe the docs will tell you to use typing at GLP as therapy! :)

I'll make sure I put you on my calendar for Tuesday. Let me know what time your surgery is scheduled for and I'll pray for you at that time, ok?
