I am setting my alarm. It's been cloudy here, but they're starting to break up as the sun goes down. Last Edited by muse_1111 on 05/23/2014 08:26 PM |

We all know they put those clouds there on purpose because its not really a meteor shower. Quoting: Fishticon I know what it really is, What it really is is a mass refuel for aliens. Normally the aliens refuel by sucking up the chemtrails we leave for them in accordance with the interplanetary alliance, but this time is a huge offering because of their help they did taking down the Russian rocket with satellites on it. |

What colors might be dominant during tonight's show? Quoting: DonniesDarko "Shooting stars have different colours and we have different hues of light depending on the chemical composition of the debris. Entering the atmosphere the meteors vaporizes, and it emits a distinctive light spectrum based on its chemical makeup. Another factor affecting the colour of the meteor is its speed. The air immediately in front of the meteor is compressed to higher pressures if it is faster and thus produces higher temperatures. A fast meteor will then appear blue, while a slow one will be red or orange. We also have to consider the excitation of air molecules by the meteor’s passage. If the material is heated enough its molecules will be stripped of electrons and they become ionized. These charged particles will then interact with air molecules and cause them to glow (just as charged particles from the sun cause auroras). The colour of the light changes as layers of the meteoroid are stripped off and ionized. Different elements are then responsible for the different colouring: sodium will produce an orange/yellow light, iron yellow, copper and magnesium blue/green, calcium and potassium violet." [link to www.thereaction.net] Interesting. Never seen a shooting star that wasn't white, though. IF they contain a LOT of copper they can have a greenish tint because copper burns green. ^^^^ Good info above! Thanks for sharing. I am here at my remote viewing location, awaiting the show! :bunker: |

The viewing site we have is awesome. I came equipped with all types of viewing and recording equipment. Also if the media shower turns out to be a dud, I have some great fishing right out my back door. |
