facebook people, can you help explain stuff please?

alright, so I finally made a facebook account, just to look up some people I used to know. I obviously didn't put any pictures or real facts about me on there.

now I've read that facebook likes to track its users and their online activity.

am I wrong assuming I am safe when I:

never log into fb and browse simultaniously
always empty my cookies and history
and never click on fb buttons on websites

??


or is there another way fb can keep track of people?
