Re: Tooth cavities, home fixes?
Hi all, just looked into my mouth this morning and it appears I have some cavities forming or formed! No pain, but I know if I dont do something now ill start to regret it!

Now I already have fillings and I really dont get the idea of the dentist drilling out half my tooth to stick in some filling that looks awful!

Is there anything I can do to fix my teeth or is it a painful visit to the dentist and his happy drill, any ideas?

Thanks

Look into using coconut oil to remineralize your teeth. Basically you brush your teeth and then swish coconut oil around in your mouth for 15-20 minutes every day. I'm trying it now since I have some cavities but I've only been doing it for a few days so I can't really say if it works or not. Also, supposedly cavities happen because of nutritional deficiencies.

rinse with sea salt also. It is a long long slow slow process so be patient. it is a lifestyle change. rinse your mouth with warm water and a tsp of baking soda. change ph so that bacteria cannot thrive in your mouth environment.

Contrary to what Big Denistry, Inc tells you everyday on TV, eating healthy and not brushing your teeth are the best way to fight cavities. Brushing teeth rubs off important plaque that protects your enamel and remineralizes your teeth. I have brushed my teeth once a week for years. My breath doesn't stink, my teeth are white and no cavities. Wolfs don't brush their teeth, neither do humans need to.

Smoke. Smoking kills bacteria that causes tooth decay. You may get gum disease though. Alternatively, try to find a good conservative dentist.

Re: Tooth cavities, home fixes?
i agree about dentists. they are clueless and just robots for a fucked-up industry.

cavities (tooth demineralization) is 100% linked to diet and overall level of health (immunity). what I found , and there is at least one book about it , is that the tooth is much more affected by your body's lack of energy / health to produce the minerals and remineralize the tooth than the actual goo that stays on it during the day.

the goo alone will not corrode the enamel; it needs that the tooth is weakened by something else. enter acidity levels and general poor health, which is obviously determined by diet.

another important factor is the sucking vacuum of one's nasal breathing. often people will have nasal septum deviation and/or nasal congestion yhat leads to them always sucking air over one area of their mouth. this weakens the tooth which is then open for acids to strike.

Turmeric and a little water. Mix into a thin paste, brush on and around affected tooth. If no pain this should prevent worsening at least. But it's yellow and makes your fingers look like you smoke 60 a day! Brush daily with this after regular brushing.

I've been using coconut oil with baking soda for brushing.
I can tell you for sure, the starting pain on my tooth cavity just gone and haven't been for more than 2 weeks now.
And I learnt that cavities can be cured and remineralised.
Dentists only temporarly "cure" cavities. Bacteria are not destroyed completly, they later start to multiply in the covered tooth and booomm...Another infection, years later,on the treated root canal...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57613948

Swishing with baking soda and warm water will get rid of tooth aches and infections.. I had some black thing form on one of the hairs on my tongue, I presume from smoking.. Nothing I did would get it off until I brushed and soaked my mouth with baking soda, it took four minutes for whatever the hell it was to disappear.. Might have been cancer I don't know..

I want to believe you, but my experience has told me the opposite. Why is it my cavities have always been where food gets stuck? In the very back of molars where I never brush, on the tops and sides of molars where I don't realize there's food stuck there.

+1 for my Portuguese friend.

I use baking soda and a few drops of peroxide. Used this for about 5 or 6 years now. My teeth have never been better and are 100% absolutely re-mineralized from where they were when I used toxic commercial toothpaste.

Look into making your own toothpastes and also into "oil pulling".

Only go to medical practitioners for actual trauma (as someone else also said). If you go when you are healthy you'll soon have actual trauma! :-)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47931794

not good. peroxide dries out the gum and in a few more years you will see the effects of abrasive bake soda and drying peroxidw in thinning and badly receding gumlines. this combo destroyed my mouth- lucky i still have enamel on them

How do you swish it for 15-20mins?

I've only been able to do it for 5 mins max, I guess my mouth muscles just aren't that strong...

I'm gonna try this coconut oil thing. People have been telling me to use it on my beard, so I could just swish the stuff, too.

36 years without a cavity or any dental work of any kind... so I imagine it could be something I might have to experience at some point.

Re: Tooth cavities, home fixes?
i went 11 years without seeing one until an abscessed wisdom tooth almost killed me from the infection, dont wait just go. the temporary pain you get from getting it fixed is a match flicker compared to the burning pain and possible death you can get from not treating it. the day i went i had 3 surgically cut out and 8 filled, and honestly it was not that bad. 2 weeks of shittyness and i was moderately health again.
if you let it go it can kill you, the infection spreads to your other teeth and begins swelling your throat until you cant breath on your own. take care of that shit before it takes care of you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56979056

I had an abscess in 1995 and another one in 2004. Both times I followed the advice of my health-nut boyfriend. For three days the only things I ate were fresh watery fruits (no bananas) and all I drank was DISTILLED water. The abscesses went away. Same course of action for a bladder infection, just go on that restricted diet and NO SUGAR!!

For the second abscess (2004), two courses of antibiotics couldn't knock it out, but the fruit/water diet did the trick.

Good luck with your cavities, I would assume that a good diet would work with that as well. I avoid dentists (and doctors, unless I were to break something).

This happened to me coincidentally right after I stopped using flouride toothpaste because I had heard it was bad. I still believe it is bad, however my disdain for the dentist (and having 4 cavities filled >.<) outweighs the negative side effects of flouride....just for me personally.
