You have to be a little nutz to spend your days walking on some of the roof pitches and under some of the conditions that they do.

It's hazardous work like being on the front lines. Eventually the only ones left are the crazy angry ones

Ever tried it? it sucks balls, I only roof our small out buildings and hate my wife at the end of the day, try it out. Plus I'm an asshole electrician it happens deal with it.

think about it. if you are a roofer is it because you went to college and have a PHD or is it because it is the only job you can do and you are pissed at the world for being such a loser. much like being a progressive liberal democrat.

It really has got to be brutal work. I do respect that. They just need to be more nice to the people who handle their insurance. They pay way more then needed because we know they are going to be assholes to deal with. They call and tell my secretary that she should be cleaning houses where she belongs. I love taking their money, they deserve to pay more.

I'm a property manager an deal with contractors alot....MOST are jerks with a used car salesman attitude....nowadays good tradesmen are rare.... when I find them, I pay well to keep them near....many have a Lets see how much can be conned out of the customer .....

As for roofers recently I hired one to put on a PVC roof, the contract called for 80mil thick PVC....this roofer put on 60mil thinking I wouldn't notice....I pulled out a dial caliper and embarrassed him....

Women and metrosexual males are especially targeted by these lowlife contractors....

I mean think about it, getting home improvement done nowadays is like doing a drug deal.....so easy to get burned or ripped off....

I sympathize OP. It's hard to find good roofers... it's hard to find good anything any more.

My husband went through co-workers at work. One of his coworker's father did roofing. All U.S. citizens (I insisted), all union, all bonded, licensed. These were guys here in Michigan who had lost their jobs during this awful Obama-recession.

They got it done in one day, and did a class-a job.

Ppl, try to hire Americans. They really need the work.

Builders in general are the worst. I used to be open minded about them until I worked with them. A-holes.

Most clients suck balls as well. They want it all and they expect to pay minimally.

Another thing to look at is the paperwork....I had a lawyer friend LOLing when I showed him a roofing Co. worksmanship and material warranty....it was about 20 pages long full of legalnese that requires a lawyer to decipher...

some of the highlights was

-transferring the warranty to the new owner if I sold the building cost $1,000.00

-Any material warranty required a piece of the roofing sent to a lab at homeowner's cost to be tested and within a time limit of submitting the complaint

-Warranty required paying the roofer to maintain and service the roofing on a schedule

basically they are doing everything to keep you from filing a claim...

They hide behind reams of paperwork to cover for a poor jobs.....

Roofers are always on top.

You'd have to be to survive in roofing. Or another way of putting it, to be dumb enough to stay in roofing.

I was a roofer for a while. It's seriously the worst labor you can do, bottom of the blue collar shit heap. Brutal, horrible work, I'm glad I got out of it.

I'll reroof my own house, but fuck doing it ten hours a day every day.

everyone knows it the arm pit of carpentry… I actually like roofing--open air, hard work… but when there's bad weather or steep roof and chance of falling… no so good...

Other than doing it for those ten hours at the prison that day, I'd never want to do it again. If it wouldn't have been for Andy promising three beers per man we'd never have done it. It's all a blur now after all these years down in Mexico with Andy.

there normal as everyone else but you push there wrong button then it is lights out which is why people if they are smart do not get on there nerves ccause it could be there last one and i know enuff that you be well done and i aint talking sun.
