Why can we remember the past but not the future?
A very interesting (albeit kinda deep) article discussing memory, the arrow of time and its relationship with the 2nd law of thermodynamics and entropy.

<snip>

It might seem like a bizarre question, but it’s not obvious why our psychological “arrow of time” should move in the same direction as that dictated by the second law of thermodynamics, which implies that events unfold in the direction that increases net entropy. A report in Physical Review E suggests that these two arrows of time are forced to coincide by the constraints on what it actually means to remember something.

<end of snip>

Wow great minds think alike. Check out this theory.

To see the future you would have to expand your mass....so technically the future should be already there and your future under quantum physics should be able to effect your past. Hmmm what would the consequences be of that??

What if we can but it's been hidden, lost, deliberately skewed to us because of the "power" one would have....eh?

Yes indeed and I just this moment noticed your Quantum Leap thread, great show and you've asked a very good question with regard to the relationship between timeand mass - I'm gonna abandon this thread and put a link to your thread on here. :)

I'm not sure if we could merge them, but no worries at all, you're more than welcome to mention the article if you so wish should the question arise in your thread - also, you may be interested to read at your leisure a thread I started a few weeks ago that has certainly gone on a bit of tangent with the whole question of what time actually is.

Because choices that have already been made for future need to be experienced in flesh.
This is why you can not remember the future even though you have already made the choice of what is about to take place.
If you remember the future the experience may not be needed. Which means being in 3d world is not needed.

Yes, prophet has a divine reason for remembering the future.
For us to remember the future would render this life useless.

We are here to experience in physicality what we have set out before ourselves. To remember the future diminishes the need for experiencing it in physicality.
There is indeed a valid reason for not remembering the future.
On other hand as you said, certain selected few are exceptions for valid reasons also.

Re: Why can we remember the past but not the future?
Not remembering the future has the ability of changing knowing in to becoming.
Example.
Knowing you are kind is just knowledge.
It is not until you physically do an act of kindness that you become kind.
This is the whole reason for this physical existence.
Here is the meaning of the holy trinity.
The father, is the all knowing.
The son, is the physical experience.
Holy ghost is becoming that knowledge.

That's a good point. We all experience that in some form or another. I think it all goes back to what Einstein said - that the past, present and future all coexist simultaneously.

 Quoting: Sir Tim The-Not-Quite-So-Brave

Hmmm what makes up the present see I think if we look at this like an equation we may be able to break the "lock". If we can break down a conscious experience ....the "now" and compare it to the "past" we should be able to understand the "future"

So do you think it would be safe to say time = consciousness or what if consciousness creates our perception of time.
Past consciousness
Present consciousness = experiences(emotion, surrounding)
Future consciousness = possibility

I think consciousness is the synchronizing of our senses.....I'm looking for the article but it basically states that your brain is "controlling your perception of time"

Sight - short distance to brain and travels at fastest speed
Sound - short distance to brain and slow speed
Touch - varied distance long to short and body creates the speed

All three of these senses are synchronized which is odd. Example I smash a hammer on your toe. Your eyes receive the signal very fast (670616629mph)and sends it off to the brain...then very shortly your ears pick up the thump (761.207051mph) converts it and shoots it to the brain...then you feel it (atom acting upon atom) instantly converted and sent from the foot to the brain.***great site that explains that your nerves are like wires for electricity. [link to io9.com] " now all this information is synced i believe by consciousness to give you a experience that doesn't have any "lag"

If you remember the past then you'll remember your previous incarnations in your flesh which had been denied and human cannot cope with this type of thing.

The past and the future is base on time which is an illusion, for one life as an futurist different type of so called aliens in a mothership and then the next life incarnate as a prehistoric caveman for nostalgia sake as you had choosen already in spirit.

You only brought in 1% with you, imagine that?. You are not ready to understand, neither could you bend your mind like a pretzel.

Actually we do remember the future. All the deja (sorry my keyboard skills are not up to accents) phenomena. It's the sense of having seen or heard or done or read things before when it was quite impossible that was the case. How often I've known I've read a book but it was just published and released. Or I know a foreign locale and I've never been there before. Or I stop at a street corner even though I have right away and car which was just or heard it but three seconds later it is there.
