What is Causing that Annoying Eye-Twitch?
I have developed a very annoying eye-twitch about two weeks ago that goes on sporadically all day. It has come and gone previously at certain times during my life. I don't recall it lasting this long, or twitching this much, ever. I am a very healthy person, with a good (not perfect) diet, and get plenty of exercise.

My questions are: What is causing it? Is it something in my diet that is in excess, or a deficiency? Is it something in the air? If nerves are electrically stimulated, is there something in the atmosphere causing this? Has anyone else developed an eye-twitch?

All I know is that it is getting to be very annoying.

If you use distilled water or reverse osmosis, water conditioning, you may be missing magnesium as well as some potassium and calcium. Only time I ever had it was from distilled. Good luck.

Have you been stressed? That's when it usually happens to me.
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone...ain't no borderline psychotic emotional outbursts either.

Some days you just have to create your own sunshine.

Diet Coke and other Aspartame products made my eye, rather my eyelid, twitch.

Stopped all synthetic sweeteners and it went away eventually.

To answer the replies so far:

I take a Multi vitamin daily.
No more stress than usual. Just graduated from college and already employed.
I do drink conditioned water, so might be lacking magnesium etc.
I have really good teeth.
Worm in the brain? Not sure.

It even happens when I'm asleep.

Also,

Very rarely do I drink caffeine, or carbonated drinks.
However, I do drink artificially sweetened drinks frequently.

Re: What is Causing that Annoying Eye-Twitch?
Well, first of all, everyone is different, and I'm no doctor, so 'it could' be something such as diet as some have found, or a reaction to something physical going on with your eyes, or whatever. Might check with your doctor and eye doctor to rule out those things.

Will tell you that 'my experience', like some of the others, after ruling out caffeine and other stuff... what I found was 'for me' the eye twitching was a direct reaction to stress in my life.

The very second my eye twitches, I check the tension in my shoulders, and yep, always, my shoulders are hunched up, indicating some stress I am under. Stop everything, relax the shoulders, take deep breaths, become aware for the rest of the day to keep shoulders relaxed. And my eye won't twitch again, that day.

Until the next time I unknowingly have my shoulders hunched up in stress that I am also not aware of.

For me, just a body signal.

You are drinking too much water which is making you pee too much, draining your bodies magnesium. Take a magnesium and potassium supplement and "watch"(pun intended) your eye ticks go away.

Your eye is twitching...

If your'e a bloke...

Right eys twitching is something good on its way to you !
Left eye twitching means bad, you'd better keep an eye out.

If you're a lady

Its the opposite Right eye twitch means bad news on the way.

Getting more sleep helps a lot, too. I used to get it when I stayed up too late and/or got bad sleep for a few days in a row.

Slow down on the X... just kidding. Probably a mineral deficiency. Try some of those fizzy supplements with Calcium/Magnesium, electrolytes, vit. B's. That'll help. Oh...the absolute BEST vitamin supplement out there is Symplex C by Let's Talk Health... pricy, but might be the only supplement you'll ever need. Its a liposomal mix. Good Luck.

Re: What is Causing that Annoying Eye-Twitch?
Weird! I've had a persistent eye twitch thing lately too! I'm pretty sure it's from not enough sleep, too much coffee, and stress combo-

But the main thing I want to say to you is DO NOT CONSUME ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS!!! OMG! Please find the documentary called, Aspertame-Sweet Misery. It was made by a lady who cured her own MS by stopping that crap, then did very in depth research all about it. Did you know that F-ing Donald Rumsfeld holds the patent on it??!!! GGEEEEEZZZUUSSS! That stuff is seriously bad!

Haven't had the eye-twitch for about 24 hours now, after taking the Mg supplement. I have given up artificial sweeteners a few times, but cave in eventually to the sugar craving. I swear sugar addiction is probably the most prevalent of all the addictions.

Multi-vitamins are useless. You can't possibly get enough of the required amount of all your vitamins in one or two pills. I'm not talking about the RDA. Their recommendations are always way too low.
