Also, make the weights recess to cut down on drag 5. I always believed in super gloss paint for drag reduction |

It had a fin on the back and was shaped just slightly more narrow as it went from front to back. Not too narrow. It needs to be real solid. More of a rectangle shape with slight narrowing toward the front. And thicker to thinner in front. Hope that makes sense. I am a lady trying to describe it to you. My dad gave it his all because we had very rich neighbors who paid to have real fancy cars built. We were poor and made our own and it kicked ass. We were so proud of dad. : ) Good luck. |

As much distance between front and back axles as possible 3. Maximmum weight in the BACK (more falling distance = more momentum) 4. Minimize center weight (shape like this: |----|) 5. Straighten and polish axles 6. Graphite and more graphite 7. Make sure it runs straight (use a tool) 8. Some only run 3 wheels (reduces friction), but I am not convinced on this one. |

Smooth the inner bearing surface and the axle surface using 2500 grit paper or higher then lube with graphite. Works like a champ. I'm tired of waiting, somebody push the damn button already! Anonymous Coward User ID: 13620635 United States 05/15/2014 01:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Definitely knock the "nub" off the nail they provide as axle. File it off - and polish the axles. Get inside the wheel too - use a pipe cleaner with tooth paste to get in there - not too much though. Knock the nub off the outside of the wheels too, else it's like that one shopping cart at the grocery store for each tire as it goes down the track. Heavy as possible. My personal winner was front heavy - but I've seen back heavy win too. Can do much much more if you really want to get into it - but just doing these things will help immensely. Don't forget the graphite at race time. |

With only one edge at the top sloping away underneath. The reason is so the car will start moving immediately as the little peg that holds the car falls away. This gives you a head start on a car that is square at the front or that slopes from bottom up. |
