Neuro-linguistic programming and how we can fight it! | |
Dr Booshka (OP) User ID: 56215730 United States 05/22/2014 10:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Milton Model: The Milton model is a form of hypnotherapy based on the language patterns for hypnotic communication of Milton Erickson, a noted hypnotherapist.[7] It has been described as "a way of using language to induce and maintain trance in order to contact the hidden resources of our personality".[8] The Milton model has three primary aspects: Firstly, to assist in building and maintaining rapport with the client. Secondly, to overload and distract the conscious mind so that unconscious communication can be cultivated. Thirdly, to allow for interpretation in the words offered to the client.[9] 1. Rapport The first aspect, building rapport, or empathy, is done to achieve better communication and responsiveness. NLP teaches 'mirroring' or matching body language, posture, breathing, predicates and voice tonality. Rapport is an aspect of 'pacing' or tuning into the client or learners world. Once pacing is established, the practitioner can 'lead' by changing their behavior or perception so the other follows. O'Connor & Seymour in "Introducing NLP" describe rapport as a 'harmonious dance', an extension of natural skills, but warn against mimicry.[8] Singer gives examples of the pantomime effect of mere mimicry by some practitioners which does not create rapport.[10] 2. Overloading conscious attention The second aspect of the milton model is that it uses ambiguity in language and non-verbal communication. This might also be combined with vagueness, which arises when the boundaries of meaning are indistinct. The use of ambiguity and vagueness distracts the conscious mind as it tries to work out what is meant which gives the unconscious mind the opportunity to prosper. 3. Indirect communication The third aspect of the Milton model is that it is purposely vague and metaphoric for the purpose of accessing the unconscious mind. It is used to soften the meta model and make indirect suggestions.[11] A direct suggestion merely states what is wanted, for example, "when you are in front of the audience you will not feel nervous". In contrast an indirect suggestion is less authoritative and leaves an opportunity for interpretation, for example, "When you are in front of the audience, you might find yourself feeling ever more confident". This example follows the indirect method leaving both the specific time and level of self-confidence unspecified. It might be made even more indirect by saying, "when you come to a decision to speak in public, you may find it appealing how your feelings have changed." The choice of speaking in front of the audience, the exact time and the likely responses to the whole process are framed but the imprecise language gives the client the opportunity to fill in the finer details.[12] Depending on the branch of NLP (different trainers or companies) the number and some of the content of the presuppositions may vary. Some of them are: The meaning of a communication is the response that you get (not the one intended). The map is not the territory Life and 'Mind' are Systemic Processes Mind and body are parts of the same system and have influence over each other Law of Requisite Variety All behaviour is geared towards adaptation Behind every behavior is a positive intention People are doing the best they can with the choices they have available Choice is better than no choice (and flexibility is the way one gets choice) Multiple descriptions are better than one Behaviour is to be evaluated and appreciated or changed as appropriate in the context presented People already have all the resources they need to succeed The highest quality information you can have of someone is their (present) behaviour. People are not their behaviour: accept people, change the behaviour (Also: Make distinction between behaviour and self). Every outcome manifested is Feedback: there is no failure, only feedback [link to en.wikipedia.org] Last Edited by Dr Booshka on 05/22/2014 11:07 AM |

The hypnotherapist is simply a guide." He did not cotton do the stage performers, but he did perform hypnosis for surgery so that's pretty f'in effective. Know thyself takes more than 100 years? That sucks eh OP? |

[18] The "FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin" (August 2001) has an article written by two instructors in the Law Enforcement Communication Unit at the FBI Academy, covering in depth how NLP can be used in the interview room, and to build rapport. It comments "Experienced investigators continually employ this technique, usually without even thinking about the mechanics or the process involved" [19] The State of Georgia's Public Safety Training Center runs two courses on NLP, stating that its methods are "field proven": Course L07A05031 is an "advanced level course of the latest techniques in determining truth or deception, and in the case of deception, obtaining a legal confession. Methods included are: Statement Content Analysis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, [and] Multiple Suspect Elimination... the latest and most powerful techniques of detection of deception and convincing strategies." Course L07A05041 is simply titled Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), and is "an Advanced Interview Technique Course [...] designed for the experienced officer with emphasis on combining other information gathering procedures with Neuro-Linguistic Programming... The participants will be provided a working knowledge of Neuro-Linguistic Patterning... This course is fast paced, with field proven methods for attaining more information in Interviews via the active processes presented." [20] Atlantic Police Academy, Holland College Prince Edward Island, Canada, runs a course on "Forensic Interviewing". The course contents include: "statement analysis, cognitive interview, interrogation principles, body language, neuro-linguistic programming, behavior analysis and observation, ..." [21] Memphis Police Department created a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) to handle emergency situations involving emotionally disturbed persons (EDP's). Walter Crews, the Memphis Police Director, stated, "Once in the [CIT] unit [police officers] are taught a variety of verbal and non-verbal techniques for defusing a situation, such as neurolinguistic programming, which lowers anxiety [...] Of three basic strategies identified by a National Institute of Justice study for dealing with the mentally ill, this one in particular has been hailed by professionals in both the law enforcement and mental health fields as perhaps the single most effective method today for dealing with EDP calls." Crews, Dupont (professor and head of the psychiatric ER at the University of Tennessee Medical Center), and the CIT's coordinator shared the annual Law Enforcement News honors as People of the Year for 2000. The "Memphis model" has since been adopted by law enforcement in Portland OR, Albuquerque, Seattle, San Jose, Minneapolis and Waterloo IA, and is under consideration by the Houston Police Department, which launched a pilot program, and by police departments in Oxnard and Ventura CA. (Law Enforcement News, Vol. XXVI, No. 545, 546) [22] The UK's National Police Leadership Centre (part of Centrex, the Central Police Training and Development Authority) includes "advanced communication skills, coaching skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and neuro linguistic programming" as specific elements of its Senior Leadership Development Programme intended for "Chief Inspectors, superintendents or police staff who are members of a command team" [23] [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

Let's say you invented a bomb that can annihilate cities. Despite getting their first, there's every reason to think someone else will discover it too. If you decide the bomb is too powerful, and refuse to use it, even as a threat, then you can be assured that someone more ruthless, and likely less moral, will take control of the bomb. We should all be studying NLP and using it for good. Otherwise you are conceding control to Satan. Sloth is your enemy. No-one is coming to save you. Nobody. You save yourself ...or you face the consequences. Last Edited by Jupiter_ on 05/22/2014 12:49 PM The President is an employee. His boss is the tax payer. |

You know the ones who make your grandma think that she is a clucking chicken. What if I told you that those same techniques are used every day by big corporations and maybe the guy that hit on you at the bar. Its not hard to find examples whether it be by professionals or people dabbling in it. How does it work? Our subconscious is constantly listening whether you know it or not. People utilizing NLP will sneak phrases into sentences that will convince another persons subconscious to either think a certain way or do something. Quoting: Dr Booshka It seems all fine and dandy until you realize that powerful corporations and governments are using these techniques. When you have the feeling of national pride, you will realize that you've been programmed to believe in your nation. Luckily we can learn to shut these NLP provocateurs down. Now watch this video of a man using NLP against a cop to get out of ticket. We can fight back using their own weapons: nice vid. there are a few guys out there who are very adept at this… it is a form of demonic control/occultism… there are people who have been programmed with this ability and many of them are the "over-achievers/leaders/bloodlines" of power… I have dealt with it a few times, but I have the protection of Jesus Christ and it does not work on me. I bet you the officers he failed to use it on were either aware of the technique or Christians. this guy has some interesting back-story to it, as part of his testimony: yt: A Trip into the Supernatural - Roger Morneau [link to www.youtube.com] the trouble with practicing this kind of magic is you open doors with your free will that are normally closed for protection… many occultists have not ended well (John Dee/Ed Kelly) who did this… and you curse your generations, who will now be more vulnerable… no less than YT: Manly P. As a robot, I'm easily fooled by clever humans… But seriously, I've been trying to learn as much about NLP as I can. But, I hadn't thought much about how to spot it when being used on me or others. Surviving in a soul-crushing corporate job is bad enough without so-called "team leaders" using NLP to try and manipulate people even more than they normally do. |
