Movie Site Conspiracy: Did Hollywood covertly takeover online movie piracy?
This is a theory.
I believe it to be plausible.

If you are like me, you think little of the general public, and care even less for the moviegoer crowd. You buy your ticket, spend a fortune on popcorn and soda, smuggle in candy in your girlfriends pocketbook, arrive early and select good seats, only to have a black family or group of kids come in ten minutes after the movie starts and sit down directly in front of you. Yes the movie is ruined- not because they are black or kids, rather because these people are uncultured and frankly ignorant.

I prefer to watch movies online, or grab a flix at the redbox. I have a HD projector, surround sound and screen covering a wall in my bedroom- much more enjoyable experience and I am less likely to get in a fistfight.

If you noticed over the past year, the quality of movies on the internet has diminished sharply. New release cam versions are usually now limited to just one bad version, (any HD samsung or Iphone could film better) it is the lowest quality ever, with scenes missing and it is plastered on every site, with hundreds of the same copy. When you search for a movie online, now you are greeted with hundreds if not thousands of fake links. to blogs and facebook pages.

I suppose people could be making money with Google adsense, but what if movie studios are behind it. Say they hire someone to film a lousy copy of the movie, they host it on every server and an army of shills then link them on Primewire or Solar Movie etc- and then comment on them. Have you seen this "Guys, this movie was awesome, I just watched it in 3D at the cinema, this cam version is crap, do yourself a favor and go see it on the big screen" or something along those line.

Why would someone who just got back from the movies, go to a movie site try and watch a camera version and feel the need to comment on it?

Why are only a few Google results removed for copyright and all the ones to the bad versions allowed to stay?

My theory is this: Piracy can not be stopped- so Hollywood is now the one doing the piracy to prevent losses at the box office. DVD's and blu ray is basically dead in this country- so box office is still where the bread and butter is. After its run, it is then pimped out to netflix- which is guaranteed revenue regardless of bootleg DVD copies online.

What are your thoughts- and If anyone wants to judge me for streaming a movie, or get all preachy, kindly screw off in advance.

damned

It's possible, but the system the warez scene has set up is designed to prevent such a thing. Bad copies are tagged as such and cease to be shared on the whole.

Perhaps you need to look into other sources for your downloads?

I am just going by the top movie streaming sites- Not P2P torrents sites. Most people stream movies now- no trouble with your ISP or Johnny law. Software and games is another story

Why not? I've like a few movies in the theater and may have looked for a copy online to rewatch it. If it's still early in the release there is obviously nothing but a cam or TS available, so some people may complain about that. I never have, but hey, some people want it all for free.

Not sure how you are searching for movies, but torrentz.ch + utorrent is a good match. Or XBMC with Icefilms. If you are running into fake links and ads, you are doing something wrong.

Thank you for your feedback.
Again, I am talking only about google search results and streaming of new release movies- Not torrents
Nobody gets what I am getting at apparently. For instance Search "Watch Godzilla for free online" The thousands of links are fake- This was not the case last year.
Then go to one of the top movie stream sites like Solarmovie or primewire and notice how each version is the same on all 50+servers, and it is re-uploaded daily. Then look at the comment sections. Only a handful of people still use torrents to watch a movie- because it violates your TOS for your ISP, while streaming is legal and you don't have to worry about trojans. Check the torrent numbers vs stream numbers.

You making people rich by searching that way, fake money survey links have been around for a while over 4 years I no that. Time to pony up or go find a better torrent site. You sound like a noob bro, I mean seriously you search for that and then fake links pop up? They don't take them down cause there is no movie gold at the end of those rainbows.

I agree with you. I believe it may also have something to do with market research, especially for just released films.

Could also be a honeytrap for future lawsuits as well.

I have said ten times WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT TORRENTS. For demonstration, I am merely following the logical path a normal person would take of finding a movie to watch online for free- showing what everyday people do.
