Quoting: Tess2012 I learned how to play musical instruments right handed myself. The other weird thing is that I write left handed, bat left handed, shoot pistols right handed, shoot rifles left handed, and my right foot in dominant. Though, I'm mostly left handed when it comes to normal tasks. Learning to play music righty was just easier because of the setups etc. (drums) |

I can catch equally well glove on either hand. I golf right handed, and I box right handed but still have a killer left. I play tennis left handed. I shoot left handed, but I can shoot pistols in both. I'm not good with a rifle right handed, though. Trouble using the right eye as master eye. I can write with either hand but the left seems more natural. Overall, being left handed sucks. I play the guitar pretty well but if I was born right handed I could have been a whole lot better. right handers are lucky to be normal, everything is made for them. |

I contort my wrist when I write. But I know what you mean, I see fellow lefties that do that. |

The most memorable incident involved her trying to teach me how to crochet. It was the most frustrating ordeal trying to do what she did but backward. I only succeeded in crocheting long chains that wound up looking like one strand of a double helix In school I was in constant trouble with my English teacher because my writing took a left handed slant. |

The best things you can do for a left-handed child are: (1) teach to type school assignments as soon as possible; (2) (re)teach penmanship, with arm at side and pen away from self. You might want to teach back-slanted cursive or block printing. Ask them to think of it as art, so they don't immediately repeat and reinforce the penmanship habits they learned in school. The writing change easy to learn over a school recess, and lasts a lifetime. |

The reason you Dad's left hand was tied is because before Toilet tissue and good personal hygiene was invented people used the left to wipe, supposedly. Therefore the left hand was "unclean". It served the Nuns in their control to use the Devil. The only Devil was in some of those "Brides of Christ". He did right to drop the Catholic Church. Left handed people use the creative parts of their brains so they became Artists and are very creative. Because they have to live in Right handed world they use both sides of their brains. Your Da is a genius, artist and has brilliant common sense! I hope he is still around, if not I hope he is using that belt on that nun!!!! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23764026 .....we will rule one day! What about people that do some things left handed and some things right handed, like me? Quoting: alexisj9 Me too! Out of the 7 siblings I have, 3 of us were left handed, The eldest brother, eldest sister and myself (girl). My sister was ambidextrous and so am I. I things I do solely with my left hand is eat, write, sew, knit, crochet. With either hand I can weed whack, throw a bowling ball, bat (prefer right), shovel snow, and only with my right do I throw anything. Kind of all screwed up, LOL. None of my 3 children are lefties. My grandson is a lefty, but I notice he also does a lot with his right. |

The right hand is controlled by the left brain, which deals with the real world. In college I took a bunch of art classes and easily two-thirds of the class was left handed people because lefties make better artists, we have more creativity, more imagination. So next time you enjoy a good painting or a great song just think about that. The artist was probably left handed and right brained. |
