No

I do not want Communists

I hate Obama as President

I was wrong to vote for him

So there...

HOWEVER

You are REALLY TELLING ME that those witch hunts were... good?

Positive?

Legal?

American?

Explain your revisionist reductionism please

If you can indulge a person who wants to understand before totally condemning
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14940941

I am telling you that the only people who claimed that the "hearings" were witch hunts were the people who were in the crosshairs and their multiple communist supporters. Most Americans were in favor of flushing the fucking commies out of our government, you were not?

Use your damned head and think about it. I know thinking for yourself is not particularly a leftist trait, but for G-d's sake try it for a change and learn something...do your own research other than leftist talking points open your eyes and maybe your pea brain will absorb some knowledge in the process...

Re: Cruz: 42 Democrats Have Signed On To Repeal the First Amendment
So I guess this is bullshit too:

from Wiki

"After reviewing evidence from Venona and other sources, historian John Earl Haynes concluded that, of 159 people identified on lists used or referenced by McCarthy, evidence was substantial that nine had aided Soviet espionage efforts... Among those implicated in files later made public from the Venona project and Soviet sources were Cedric Belfrage, Frank Coe, Lauchlin Currie, Harold Glasser, David Karr, Mary Jane Keeney, and Leonard Mins. These viewpoints are considered revisionist by many scholars. Challenging efforts aimed at the "rehabilitation" of McCarthy, Haynes argues that McCarthy's attempts to "make anti-communism a partisan weapon" actually "threatened [the post-War] anti-Communist consensus", thereby ultimately harming anti-Communist efforts more than helping."

So... about 3% of the people whose lives he destroyed were guilty...

Hope you aren't a baseball fan, as Joe was hitting .030

What a hero indeed...

...

I hope it really makes you feel like you have a bigger penis to personally attack someone seriously trying to find out

where this idea has come from, no matter how sad it really is. So it does not bother you that corporations are writing

the laws of this nation for their own benefit and they do not give a rats ass who their laws hurt and kill? You think

it is a good idea to allow the government to take peoples private property and give it to the interest of business?

That is what I am getting from your video sir. You might want to reconsider the implications of that really closely.
 Quoting: KimmieAnnaJones

OK....that was douchy, but there are sooooooo many idiots on here that can't add 2+2 it become habit to answer that way.

That said though....you still seem to have missed the mark.
Care to have another go at it? 1dunno1

Here's another big hint.
You won't see that ad or others like it if the Commies who hate free speech get their way.
 Quoting: Useless Cookie Eater

So I see where you are coming from but if that video could be made without more campaign contributions than the other

guy, it can still be made or made for free. This is not about limiting one person in favor of the other but making

funds equal. I personally think the better way to approach that goal would be repealing the decision that allowed super

pacs because I believe less law is better but being able to pay off a politician is disgusting. If I had my way,

politicians would work part time and not get paid for serving like it used to be.
 Quoting: KimmieAnnaJones

I agree because when the slime ball with the most money to steer the sheep his way "wins" ...we end up with shit anyway. Again and again and again.

And they should work for free or get the fuck out. Notice how they all seem to gain more wealth while being in office; that should be telling enough about the dirty dealings they feast on at our expense but......
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47893151

That's right.

We used to have STATESMEN, now we have politicians.

A Statesman was a farmer/clerk/shop owner who was though of highly enough by his community that he was elected to represent them. He put on his best suit, packed some shit in a wagon and went to DC to represent his district. After a few years he returned home and went back to his farm/shop/job. Fr the first 100 years his average term in congress was 3 years. Only 10% ran for re-election and only 10% of those were re-elected.

The politician is a member of the 1%, the 0.1% or the 0.01% economic class today. They are vipers who often have little connection to their district other than a 3rd or 4th vacation home there. In fact, it's not uncommon for them to shop around for a vacation home in a district they feel they may be able to win an election. In the past 50 years his/her term has exploded to 27 years on average, over 90% run for re-election, and over 90% of those are indeed elected again.

The MAIN concern for the Statesman was the welfare of his constituents.
The ONLY concern for the Politician is the next election.
Term Limits for EVERY elected and appointed office. An end to career politicians for real change.

No.... I do not support witch hunts

I do not support NSA spying either

I do not support accusations without evidence

I do not think someone who believes in Communism is necessarily evil, a spy or committing treason...

So.... let's say I believe in Communism (i do not) but say I do...

Am I a threat to the USA by my belief?

Or do I have the freedom to believe in whatever I choose?

Moreover, as to the spirit of this thread- does a COMMUNiST have the right to free speech?

Please, these answers are key to understanding your paradigm

Can someone please explain how the fuck limiting the amount of money candidates spend on elections has anything to do with

free speech?
Did you all just buy into the emotional headline and or speech made by Cruz?
 Quoting: KimmieAnnaJones

I will break it down:
If you have a truth to tell, you tell your family and friends, some may agree with you, but unless this truth spreads by word of mouth or gets picked up by the press- it will likely die and the lie will continue.

If you have money, you have power, so you can use the money to start a action committee, launch an add campaign and reach more people. Politicians don't like this, because it exposes backroom deals, corruption, voting record etc.

As much as I hate the endless propaganda from both sides, You have a right to tell your friends whatever you want- why should that right go away the more friends you have. In the long run, where is the cutoff, 500 friends on facebook- perhaps someone someday will think that is too much and limit your speech.

If you limit the first amendment in anyway, the others will be eroded and you won't even hear about it.

That's where you all lose me

I haven't called anyone a "name" who supports McCarthy

But I have been called a "pea brain" in a predictable ad hominem attack

Does that make you feel better?

My kids, in first grade, called people names

Now that they are grown up, in third grade, they do not call those who disagree with the disparaging names...

I presume you are not in 3rd grade...

so you believe in calling people names?

W o W

I am trying to engage in civilized debate- you want to tell me I am stupid for not believing in your view... that, my friend, is SO DANGEROUS as all views should be respected, like all genders, all races, all people... or do you disagree with that?

Let's hear it

Under the proposed amendment, Cruz writes, Congress would have the ability to:

Ban the National Rifle Association from distributing voter guides;

Ban the Sierra Club from running political ads;

Prohibit pro-life/pro-choice groups for spending money to advocate their views on abortion;

Ban labor unions from engage in voter outreach;

Make it illegal for bloggers to criticize the president;

Ban book, movies, and other forms of media that could be classified as “political speech.”

Ray Bradbury's best-selling science fiction masterpiece about a future without books takes on a chillingly realistic dimension in this film classic directed by one of the most important screen innovators of all time, the late François Truffaut . Julie Christie stars in the challenging dual role of Oskar Werner's pleasure-seeking conformist wife, Linda, and his rebellious, book-collecting mistress, Clarisse. Montag (Oskar Werner), a regimented fireman in charge of burning the forbidden volumes, meets a revolutionary school teacher who dares to read. Suddenly he finds himself a hunted fugitive, forced to choose not only between two women, but between personal safety and intellectual freedom. Truffaut's first English language production is an eerie fable where mankind becomes the ultimate evil. 1966 Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved.

Yo guy who started this thread.!!! You know this vote is about campaign finance reform and not about the first amendment right?

Ted Cruz, as Christian as you all think he is, is misrepresenting what this amendment is about. If you are Christian you should be pissed this guy is lying to you. What is happening is that the Senate is trying to repeal the Koch-Supreme Court ruling that gave corporations the rights as citizens to flood the market with their money to sway public opinion or their "free speech"

This is what this is about, it's not about the firs amendment. A simple google search beyond this forum would give you all the information you want on this subject.

If you wan Koch enterprises to completely run this next election, by all means support your good Christian brother Ted Cruz. But if you want to be able to choose a candidate without having to endure the enslaught countless BS thrown at you from both sides, tell people the truth.

Please, before you post something in the future, how about doing a little research before you push people in the wrong direction. That would be the responsible thing to do if you truly care about people.

Ok guy who says "I'll take Koch brothers money any day". You are not listening, this caps everybody's money so there is equal footing among all. And before you start calling people out for being communists, you might want to look into how the Koch family came into their fortune my friend. They are one largest entity's in our country pushing us towards a communist agenda, do you homework dude. They made their money getting into bed with Joseph Stalin, and those ties which go deep are still there.

One shouldn't keep saying ignorant things, it just makes them look like a clown. We are not interested in Russia's way of life here. We don't need our government rigging cameras in hotel bathrooms, a president stealing people's fortunes and being hostile towards people who are unlike them.

We are not like that here, we are better.

In the first place, cangress cannot repeal the first amendment.

In the second place, money is not speech.

And anyway, even if campaign contributions from corporate sources are severely restricted, which in my view they should be, that still leave blackmail, extortion, and assassination as avenues for the super rich to control congress.

Here is the funny thing people, when you actually take the time to look at the law, it doesn't "ban" anything. Go look for yourself. What Cruz is really saying in a very convoluted way, they are not allowed to spend the extra money on all these things I just mentioned because of a finance cap so I will tell you they are "banned". I choose the word "ban" because it is a very emotionally charged word that gets people fired up. Even though any legal analyst in the world will tell you that his statement is entirely false.

That's right folks, keep eating tasty sandwich you are served up. Or wake up and realize on both sides of the fence, their are problems. There is no room in this country for extremist or people who refuse to listen to logic. Those days are over.

This guy doesn't care about you and he is not a true Christian. Try again.

The First Amendment has served America well for 223 years. When Democrats tried something similar in 1997,

Sen. Ted Kennedy was right to say: "In the entire history of the Constitution, we have never amended the Bill of Rights, and now is no time to start."

Thankfully, any constitutional amendment must first win two-thirds of the vote in both houses of Congress.

Then three-fourths of the state legislatures must approve the proposed amendment.

There's no chance that Sen. Udall's amendment will clear either hurdle.

Still, it's a reflection of today's Democratic disrespect for free speech that an attempt would even be made. There was a time, not too long ago, when free speech was a bipartisan commitment

Re: Cruz: 42 Democrats Have Signed On To Repeal the First Amendment
Any unilateral effort to repeal the First Amendment (and the Second Amendment) without measured opposition is an ACT of TREASON.
 Quoting: Flying Cheeze

Congress is supposed to take charges against treason.

Congress is in dereliction of duty, and needs to have charges brought against them.

Congress should have never given credibility to the Bill in the first place, thus are co-conspirators in the treason, plus in Dereliction of Duty.

Whathas happened to all our laws? Where the fk did they all go?!?!?!?!?!- Talmud, anyone?
