A volunteer who drives patients to New York City hospitals at no charge found himself punished for his good deed on Monday, when an agent stopped him on suspicion of illegally operating a driving service.

Yeshaya Liebowitz, 25, was reportedly shuttling two women, one of whom was a cancer patient, to hospitals as part of the Jewish charity Chesed on Monday.

Liebowitz said that when he was stopped by a Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) agent, he tried explaining that he was not part of a car service.

“I tried to explain to him that I drive people to the hospital. I don’t do it for money – I pay the tolls, I pay for gas, I pay my time,” Liebowitz said.

The agent reportedly told Liebowitz and the two women to get out of the car. Not only was Liebowitz then slapped with a $2,000 fine, but his vehicle was also taken from him.

Saudi Arabia Dramatically Increases Confirmed MERS Deaths

The results of the audit showed that the total number of cases registered in the Kingdom since 2012 until the morning of June 3, 2014 is 688, including 282 deaths, 53 were still receiving treatment, and 353 had had recovered

Sources in the hospital for medical "home" has been receiving two cases riddled with the virus after their transfer from a hospital in Al-Ahsa. The sources pointed out that the baby died after his health deteriorated, result satisfactory complications due to the virus, while the other injured were transported to a hospital isolation room

The above comments (in red) are from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health (KSA-MoH) website announcing the result of an audit on MERS-CoV cases, which produced a dramatic jump in the number of lab confirmed deaths. The totals posted on the website prior to the announcement were 575 cases, including 190 deaths. Thus, the new totals increased the number of cases by 113 and the number of deaths by 92 raising the case fatality rate (CFR) from 33.0% to 41.0% using the total number of confirmed cases. However, the CFR based on outcomes (death or discharge) is 44.4% (282/635). The confirmed cases include contacts of “sporadic cases”, which frequently included younger and healthier patients who were asymptomatic or had mild cases that resolved without progression to pneumonia, and these cases had a CFR of zero, so the CFR of “spontaneous” cases, which are the focus of MERS surveillance, is greater than 50%.

The MoH did not provide detail on why the newly discovered cases were not included in the original totals, but the announcement included a graph of all confirmed cases which highlighted the newly added cases, which began in May of 2013. The above comments (in blue) from one of many media reports on MERS-CoV in May of 2013 describe children who died or were hospitalized with MERS symptoms. These media reports were very detailed and included comments made by agency officials at news conferences which cited MERS in children, but none of these cases were included in the official totals, and are likely acknowledged in the updated figures. In 2013 the MoH claimed that MERS in children were only media and internet rumors and the true status of MERS confirmed cases was limited to the totals at the government site.

These statements were from a long list of claims that lacked credibility, which are likely associated with the dismissal of the former head of the KSA-MoH, as well as the more recent announcement of the dismissal of the Undersecretary. The acting head has pledged more transparency and the website has provided more detail on cases, which included disease onset dates and obvious nosocomial cases. Initial reports also contained the names of hospitals with new cases, but those reports were replaced with a more general designation for these hospitals and clinics.

The detail on the hospitals cast doubt on claims that the explosion of MERS cases in Jeddah and Riyadh were largely due to poor infection control which created the close relationship between the sequences from cases in Jeddah and Mecca. The more detailed reports indicated local cases were in many different hospitals and included cases who developed symptoms prior to admission, which strongly supporting the emergence of a novel sub-clade in Jeddah with likely spread to Mecca. Sequences from exported cases from Riyadh and Medina suggested a second novel sub-clade had emerged in those two cities.

All four locations have reported a record spike in cases, but sequences from all 2014 cases in Medina and Riyadh have been withheld. Only one sequence has been released from Mecca and the most recent collection date for the Jeddah sequences is April 14.

In the past, all 2013 and 2014 sequences from MERS cases in KSA have been generated by one lab, which has withheld the important recent sequences, which are likely closely related to the two sub-clades which were in 2 of 2 cases exported from Jeddah (which matched the Jeddah/Mecca sub-clade) and in 3 of 3 sequences from Riyadh or Medina (which matched the Riyadh/Medina sub-clade).

The announcement of the audit results by the KSA-MoH has been useful.

The next step should include the release of full and partial MERS sequences from the explosion of cases in April and May, as well as involvement of additional labs in the confirmation and extension of the sequencing data.

The classification of 11 out of 11 recent sequences into these two sub-clades raises serious concerns about implications for spread linked to upcoming pilgrimages associated with Ramadan, which begins at the end of this month.[/b]

This is when even the Saudi's cant stop the millions of pilgrims who will travel to their highly "micro-organism hot" region to celebrate an almost mandatory religious festival that no warnings will ever hope to curtail.

This year will mark the total international spread of SAUDI SARS over the complete globe and will see some sort of pandemic evolve from it.

I personally believe that this coronavirus will still be somewhat immature for a complete and devastating pandemic, however with global coverage, it wont take too long until it again mutates into a perfect H2H contaigen widely distributed and the end wont be too far in coming.

This will be a stroke against humanity of biblical proportions and it will be sooner rather than later.

We really are on the cusp of a disaster that mankind hasnt witnessed in the last hundred years, but it is now here with us and making its move towards its kill shot.

A teenage girl’s brutal attack on her mother has been linked to an obsession with fictional horror figure Slender Man.

An Ohio mom, who was stabbed by her 13-year-old daughter in the kitchen of their family home, has told how her child assaulted her after she became obsessed with the fictional character.

“I came home one night from work and she was in the kitchen waiting for me and she was wearing a mask, a white mask,” the mom told local news station WLWT.

The mother suffered multiple minor injuries — including a puncture wound on her back. “She was someone else during the attack,” the mother told WLWT.

If you think of the United States of America as a store, its recent decisions and scandals resemble a sale, perhaps a fire sale. Or maybe even a “Going Out of Business” sale.
The list of dramatic markdowns is breathtaking. They include trading away five murderous terrorists for a likely Army deserter, an open invitation to tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to cross the Mexican border, and a decision to recognize the terrorist group Hamas as part of the Palestinian government.
On the home front, environmental regulations will cost thousands of coal miners their jobs and drive up the cost of electricity for millions. The ObamaCare mess is hardly resolved, and the Veterans Affairs scandal keeps getting worse. The acting agency head reported the deaths of 18 more vets who were kept off the official waiting list in Phoenix.
Ticking quietly in the background is the mother of all threats — an Iranian nuclear bomb. That ticking grew louder last week as the ayatollah mocked our nation by standing in front of a banner that proclaimed, “America cannot do a damn thing.”

Technically, he’s wrong. It’s not that we cannot stop the mad mullahs’ march. It’s that President Obama has taken the military option off the table, and without it, Iran has nothing to fear. Our impotence was a choice.
Add to the combustible mix the expansionist moods in Russia and China, and the series of events recalls an observation by the late economist Herb Stein. Speaking in another context, he said that, “If something can’t go on forever, it won’t.” That sums up the current sense of the nation as a whole.
What seemed for years a steady and slow decline increasingly feels like a headlong race to the bottom. America is careening downhill, and a crack-up appears inevitable.
It is no coincidence that the deal with the Taliban to release five terrorist leaders from Guantanamo brought the first threat of presidential impeachment from a respected member of Congress. That is the nuclear option, and there is good reason why it has been so rarely invoked throughout history. And yet the intense fever gripping Washington, largely created by Obama’s go-it-alone approach, needs to be broken. Impeachment is one way to try to resolve a political crisis, but as former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy argues in his new book, public opinion is a vital ingredient, and it is missing. Titled “Faithless Execution,” his book’s subtitle, “Building the Political Case for Obama’s Impeachment,” is based on McCarthy’s claim that the legal case is solid that Obama has violated his oath to execute the laws faithfully.
That’s an arguable point, but even to concede it means nothing because the Democratic Party has been so cowed into supporting Obama, regardless of what he does, that there is no chance to make the political case.
Indeed, we have reached this crisis largely because centrist Democrats have failed to stand up against Obama and demand more moderate policies.
Leaving aside occasional grumbling from party elders, he gets ­almost unanimous support from every Dem in Congress for every piece of his radical agenda. Evidence shows that one of his most pernicious practices, using the IRS to punish conservative groups, grew out of congressional demands from liberals. While that doesn’t excuse Obama’s role, it does demonstrate that his party has enabled and encouraged his improper conduct.
The result is that the constitutional system of checks and balances has been gutted as Democrats act as an amen chorus for the executive branch.

The couple who allegedly killed a pair of Las Vegas police officers before killing themselves this weekend is starting to emerge has been identified as Jerad and Amanda Miller. And a look at their public Facebook pages some hints about their apparent motivations.

Wonkette’s Rebecca Schoenkopf appears to be one of the first to discover the couple’s Facebook pages, where they posted support for rancher Cliven Bundy as well as harsh criticism of President Barack Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and other Democrats.

Jerad’s “likes” include such conservative pages as Conservative America, Conservative Daily, Mr. Conservative, Ron Paul, the NRA, Americans for Prosperity, FreedomWorks, all in addition to conspiracy theorist Aex Jones. Amanda’s included some of the same along with the Drudge Report and Hobby Lobby.

While Amanda appears to have kept her posts private, Jerad’s remain viewable by the public today. In this post from early April, Jerad demonstrated his support for the Bundy Ranch.
