Immigration reform survey shows majority support within most faith groups

White evangelical Protestants are moving against the grain in the immigration debate, dropping 8 percentage points, according to a new survey released by Brookings Institute and the Public Religion Research Institute.

The poll showed that white evangelicals now belong to the only American religious group without a majority in favor of citizenship options for illegal immigrants.

"The drop in white evangelical support comes as American's overall views about immigrants have grown more positive," reported Lauren Markoe for Religion News Service. The survey showed that 60 percent of Americans support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, compared with 48 percent of white evangelical Protestants.

Markoe quoted PRRI chief executive Robert Jones's explanation of white evangelical outliers: "Evangelicals are not only religious people, but also overwhelmingly Republican," he said.

Fifty-one percent of Republicans favor a path to citizenship, compared with 70 percent of Democrats.

Immigration = MONEY. Each person born or naturalized as a citizen represents a lifetrust, which is identified by the birth certificate, social security number, or naturalized citizen ID number. Each unique number has a value, based on the predicted lifetime tax value of that individual. So every person represents any where from a few hundred thousand dollars to several million dollars. The survey is bullshit. They make polls to sway people in the direction that they want. I haven't met a single person who wants illegals to gain citizenship. They want them to go through the proper procedures according to our immigration laws. Amnesty is like saying citizenship is meaningless.

Of course there should be a path to citizenship for ANY immigrant. It should be easier to be legal than illegal, and the current system has it backwards.
