The suspect also said that on their previous visit, an employee used a racial slur against them and they left the store, the report said.

On the date of the report, the suspects said they were in town because their 108-year-old grandmother, who had come to own a plantation she worked on as a child, was the subject of a People Magazine story.

Because of that, news crews were filming the grandmother’s family, and had been filming the situation the first time the suspects had been in the store to shop, the report said.
