I don't reply for threads like this usually, but...

As a (good)religious person, one try to live a life of righteousness, doing good in every situation.
As an atheists, one can also live a life of righteousness.

Suppose the atheists are right and there is no God and no heaven and nothing. What did any of them have to lose? Nothing. Both lived a very good life doing right.

Now suppose the believers are right. What did any of them have to lose? This time, the answer can't be "nothing". If believers are right, then an atheist have lost his everlasting soul.

Now comes the atheists saying: But religion is blindness, there are no proof whasoever of God's existence! Nothing!
Science is not static, its not the absolute truth. It corrects itself every single day. There are no scientific proof of God, none verifiable. That's ok. But absence of proof is not proof of absence. Think of a man in the 1800's, a scientist if you will. Now explain to him the concepts of quantum machanics, for instance.

This topic could go on and on, but you got the point...

As the means of finding the "natural" processes of the world, science, by limits of it's own definition, can never use God as an answer. There will never be evidence of it. This is why the best answer to, well how did all matter poof into existence and from where why etc etc is "we don't know"

It's obvious that you potentially could have a lot to lose vs potentially having nothing to gain.



My point was more being aware of the outcome. You will only ever be aware of one of them. If we are both worm food, both of us regardless of our beliefs will never know it. Atheism really is a religion of nothing.
