Quoting: Anonymous Coward 44573931 A shameful, self-absorbed, ungrateful generation of spoiled brats who think they are entitled to everything. They are turning their backs on their parents, treat them with ZERO respect, they will not lend moral support, they won't roll up their sleeves, dig in and actually BE family. They are lazy and arrogant and unwilling to accept ANY culpability for their failures and mistakes. All you who blame the Boomers for all the problems need to understand that the worst generations are those born during the Depression and the 20-somethings of today. Those two generations are more alike than most people realize. And to all of you who may be having problems with your 20-something kids (which seems an epidemic right now) - please look into generational skipping - the theory that the worst and most negative traits in one's character actually skips a generation. That may explain for some of you why your kids are the way they are. I don't understand how you can blame those born during the depression. Phoenix |

They are all in their upper seventies and eighties now and are angry, judgmental, and refuse to accept ANY culpability for their failures. That generation had ZERO respect for this great planet, they taught their kids to throw trash out car windows as they blazed 70 mph on the highways, they did not get involved in activist causes, they did nothing particularly worthwhile for this world - but THEY had the white-picket American dream, job security, Ward & June Cleaver lives. And as they've aged, they have done NOTHING but piss on everyone younger. |

Anyone who believes that kids and young adults today are the way they were in previous decades is a fool. No, they're just not all blinded by nostalgia that they forget the truth. Do you truly believe kids in the 60s were any better? Parents then thought they were distasteful, disrespectful, rude, vulgar and promiscuous. And they probably were, because that's just how kids are. How about the 80s? Cocaine and pre-AIDS, money all over the place, think the yuppies were any better than the hippies? People have been drinking, fighting, fucking since the beginning of human civilization. The only difference is that a hundred years ago nobody documented it and posted it publicly on the internet. |

They always have chipper, alert responses in complete sentences that use logic, and they have large vocuabularies. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59268938 Now you look at similar "off the cuff" clips with young people and they are staring down at the ground, shifty-eyed, won't make eye contact, can'T string complete sentences together, have no particular opinions, shitty vocabulary...("uh...yeah, like, um...lol wut?") YES!!!!! When i was growing up, in my home and family members homes... if you were speaking to an adult and used any of those: "uh...yeah, like, um" the adult would repeat just that word the second after you said it while you were still speaking.(Example: 'So i was like (*LIKE*)stop..') haha most annoying thing EVER but i learned very quickly how to speak to my elders properly. Or when someone would swear...even an adult, the elders would say 'Using swear words shows a lack of intelligence and an inability to use the correct word.... Grab a dictionary." lol Yes, i'm half asian. |

However, this didn't just happen overnight. What we're seeing is the result of a slow, residual process. It's happened over multiple generations. And until something is done, it's going to keep happening. At times, when I'm not angry over what I see with people my age, I feel quite badly for them. Terrible parents, indoctrination from birth, multiple medications, etc. It's a wonder people can still even function with all the crossed signals our brains are receiving. But, instead of complaining about it and calling our generation garbage, maybe do something to help? Teach a young person your perspective and experience. Show them how to throw a ball, plant things, fish or shoot a gun. One thing I absolutely hate is having older people look down on me because I'm younger. I can see the ones who do this. I can tell they see me as some young punk, just because I'm young. For no other reason. They don't know me. I've been "profiled" many times because I'm part of this generation.
