No. I can't do this - no way.

Have to have some protein though. 'Reckon' how to get enough protein out of other stuff to be healthy?

I buy very little meat, but buy mostly fish, cheese, and eggs. I do most of my shopping at Aldi. My daughters go to Sav-A-Lot, which is like a warehouse store.
I eat a lot of peanut butter, and beans. They are good sources of protein.

and at the end of the month the government will claim that inflation is under 1%

Just wait for beans, eggs and tofu prices to rise accordingly

I used to eat fish on a regular basis. Since the Japanese radiation flowing over here, I have not eaten any fish. Looking at maybe some farmed fish now and then?

I found some bacon (a treat) that actually tastes like the real thing. Kind of a non-popular brand (Burgers' Smokehouse), in other words a non-illuminati company, that I get now and then.

Been learning how to excel in making pots of beans with great flavor. Made some lentils that were soo good last week. I think it was the green onion that did the trick. But I wonder if that is enough protein.

I've dropped a few pounds since all of this GMO, radiation news, and nothing really tastes very good to me. Have to jack it up with garlic, sea salt and onions.

I feel like they are raising the prices on meat, poultry and fish like a joke - like paying for your poison.

I just know how families with children can keep up and feed their kids healthy foods.

I was talking to a checker at the food store and she told me that I need to go on food stamps as those who have them are still buying the expensive cuts of meat, lobster, shrimp and pre-cooked meals...

I have my dinky chicken breast and think I am being extravagant...

Chickens make awesome pets too. You can literally "secretly" keep 3 or 4 hens in a decent sized backyard and no one would even notice if you kept your mouth shut and didn't have nosey neighbors.

You then get more than enough eggs really.

I treasure Aldi. Ours is a little off the usual track, but worth a trip to stock up.

Tofu.
Yogurt - homemade.

bake the no-knead crusty artisanal bread that Pink Cat in a Telephone Hat posted - I do it about 3 times a month.

Very cheap. Will provide a link to that wonderful thread.

I can still afford it ... I buy premium ground beef and eggs from a local farm (grass raised/no hormones or antibiotics) ...

due to the high prices I now predominantly eat it raw .. maximize the nutrients ... it works !!

$20 for a fishing license here in Indiana. Hardly any places to fish anymore in my area. The casino's and the lake development have taken out most of the fishing spots. :(

I buy beef from my boss who raises them. Sure it's $1k but that's beef for the whole year. Grass fed, with no drugs. Best beef ever. Got half a pig last year. I have chickens so more eggs than I know what to do with. Started raising talapia in my indoor aquaponics set up. They are still small but before too long, I'll have more fish than I know what to do with. Pretty nice orchard with 2 dozens fruit trees. Some years are better than others with those. Pretty good sized garden with enough veggies to be able to freeze for the year. I'm also starting to clone all kinds of berries around my property as well. Will be a few years till I have enough of those. I eat like a freakin king.

not for tofu or yogurt, just Aldi's in general. I like their staples like flour, their GREAT hummus, very inexpensive sea salt chips, and their bricks of different kinds of cheese.

Now to really save on yogurt, you should make it at home. I bake bread and many, many other things from scratch, but I have not yet made yogurt.

That will come.

another savings tip some love: use powdered milk in baked goods or coffee - cheaper by far.

Nope. I'm old on a fixed income. Sure is getting difficult. I don't want to eat processed junk but it's cheaper than real meat and fish. At least I have the VA to deal with my health issues. So far they are doing a good job fingers crossed.

I usually treat myself to salmon once or twice a month, but last week it was $9.99 a pound at Fresh & Easy. No more salmon for me! I'm allergic to legumes (all beans, peas, anything in a pod) so am really struggling with getting protein. Nuts and seeds work but are also getting real expensive.
