DOG Owners Find Their Dogs "Piled Like Meat, Rotting..." VIDEO UPDATE PAGE 1

[link to www.huffingtonpost.com]

This is hard to accept, being a parent of a precious dog myself. She is laying beside me as we speak. She has saved me so many times from depression and given me immense comfort during times of pain. Everyday I wake up to her licking my face.

This article was hard to read. I cannot imagine the pain of over 12 dogs...truly man's best friend...endured during the time of their demise from the world they so trusted.

The parents of the these twelve precious dogs are mourning the deaths of their beloved family members. They left them at the kennel only to find them "piled up like meat, rotting."

FROM ARTICLE:

The owners allegedly told law enforcement that the facility’s power shut down sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to Fox 10. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office found evidence suggesting that one of the dogs chewed through a wire powering the air-conditioning in the pets’ living quarters.

Owners of the deceased dogs told Fox 10 they were not informed of the deaths until Saturday morning and in some cases were told their pets had run away.

“[Owners were] hoping maybe that their dog had run away only to have to identify a dead dog in a pile of corpses of labs and St. Bernards and goldens and Bernese mountain dogs just piled like meat, rotting," dog owner Valerie Collins told CBS 5.

“So many lies were told, and we just want the truth to come out,” she continued.

I am a proud dog owner, and I have bred miniature pinschers in the past.

I have had other large breeds...even the Doberman pinscher, but I have this love for the king of toy breeds, the min pin...that was not a nice remark, by the way. You need to apologize for that.

This is proof positive of why dogs need someone to watch them while they stay at their home.
The point is not to warehouse them in someones shed or barn where they inevitably come home with some disease like kennel cough or the like or in this instance parboiled to death.
A pet sitter for 12 dogs would cost far less than boarding them at some kennel.
Lets do the math, shall we?

12 dogs at say 30 dollars per day works out to 3600 dollars for a ten day visit.
Likely it was more than 30 dollars per day unless it was pure trash.
What were they thinking?

Dogs dying of heat because the boarders don't care, babies dying in the back seats of cars....does anyone have any sense of responsibility anymore?

Some people are. I am writing Senator Flake requesting a donation. Lets see how he responds:

As the dog days of summer get underway, the Darlington County Animal Shelter is doing all they can to keep dozens of animals cool.

"It’s just hot. They are in cages. It’s just a fact, it's a hot place to be,” said Jackie Kirven with the Darlington County Humane Society.
As you stroll around the facility, some of the animals are sprawled out like vacationers on a beach.
Although they can escape the sunlight, there is no escaping the heat.

"We are very careful that they have fresh water at all times. We refill there water and the fans will help to circulate the air,” explained Kirven.

However, there is one problem?
There are only two fans at the shelter. Both fans are placed in the dog kennel.

In reading the actual article it's probably not 12 dogs owned by one person as may be implied but either way, look for a pet sitter instead of a kennel. Kennels tend to be nasty and pets tend to be stressed and often get sick in them.
Pet sitters are often little more expense than any decent kennel and your home is kept safe as well.

What about men that have more than one large dog?
Do they have tiny nonfunctional wedding tackle in your opinion?
Or is it because they can handle them while functioning in a complex world where the dog functions as a tool and not a toy?
In my experience people with toy dogs have issues where the dog is a substitute for normal interaction with other humans, ESPECIALLY A PARTNER or a lack of children or family.

If it were me living in the mountains I'd prefer a real dog that can protect me and can fend for itself as well.
For love, I'll take another person to fill that role, thanks.

FROM ARTICLE:

Hegstrom said there was a total of 28 dogs in the home. More than half of them died in a hot room.

Heller and Bennett met with the Hughes family Saturday night, demanding answers.

"He lied to the [dog's] owner who is on vacation," Heller said.

No criminal charges have been filed against Hughes or his family. Detectives said they believe what happened at the Hughes home was a tragic accident.

"It wasn't [a tragic accident]," Bennett said. "It was an act of negligence, completely."

According to Bennett, she was told one dog really did get loose and ran away. Her dark-haired husky-mix named Valor is still missing. Bennett spent Saturday night on horseback, searching for Valor in the Gilbert area.

Since there are currently no criminal charges against Hughes, some pet owners suggested the matter will be settled in civil court.

Everyone we know with a fetish for toys has seen far, far more of their little doggies affections than any physical attention or emotional support from partners.
Thats far more the stereotype than the other way around unless you're in the ghetto.
Thats what we see, and people think they can tell my wife anything, and they do.
She's too modest to go into our own business, if nothing else just to not make them feel even worse.

That said, it's a shame that people choose pets that cannot tolerate the local climate.
St Bernards, Bernese Mountain dogs or huskies gsd's or other thick fur dogs have no business in hot desert climates and have been picked more often than not as fashion accessories.
