Good Post OP, I have something to add.
Part of the problem were have is that we keep feeding the lie that our votes make a difference and that peoples votes put Obama in office. As we know the voting system is flawed and the popular vote has nothing to do with the president who is selected from those behind the scenes.
You know the phrase, presidents are selected, not elected.
I believe if we can truly understand this, we will stop promoting the lie and figure out a system that actually works.
