If the dollar is not the reserve currency, then it is dead...

How much you paying for Groceries and Gas right now?!?!?

No inflation...gimmi a fuckin' break.

10 to 15% annually and anyone with a brain can see that. Food and Energy removed from the equation??? Gimme a fucking break...

They should use the stock market as a barometer for inflation since that's where all the dollars are flowing. What rate would that be over the last few years?
 Quoting: Drunk Uncle

The 10-15% ties in w/my calcs. from 2000 forward on groceries, gas, personal products, close on electric/gas (that's all I used).

I agree about the SM. Yeah it went up, so say you put $10k into it in 2000 for comparison, and cashed out now. After you pay your taxes, fees, etc. now what can you buy with that $25k or whatever (not doing precise calcs, going off top of head).

If any financial guru's on board, it would be cool to see the actual calcs. on this, any takers?

Anyway, probably, my guess, after cashing out right now, you probably can't purchase anymore with your "gains" than you could have back in 2000 with your original $10k.
Might as well had it sitting liquid in the CU and avoided the fees/charges/taxes to the brokers/government. If you had a a lot invested, probably would have made out better paying off your mortgage and losing the interest.

And, income wise, I don't know a whole lot of people that have been getting healthy raises or that have kept up w/the inflation other than those that received big promotions, and/or have their own unique business that is doing well in this environment. Even those in tech./healthcare, etc. aren't keeping up.

The costs of everything relative to income is becoming extreme and getting worse, and don't even get me on my soapbox on the ACA boondoggle/fiasco; one of the last nails to go into the coffin, and I'm sure our infamous leaders have a few more to pound in before it's all over.

Speaking of Groceries, I just added up what my family of 4 has spent for the month of June so far-----$600.00+ and we still have 4 days and the weekend to go??????????????

As Paul Begley says, "WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and we have not had steak once..... and I have been harvesting fresh vegetables from my "Victory Garden". I have two boys aged 12 and 16.

Nah, there is no inflation, go back to sleep people everything is great.
 Quoting: Scottish Indian

$600 for a family of four with two growing boys is pretty good. I know many people who spend that much on just two of them, but, they eat out more than eat in. Most of the twenty crowd don't understand the concept of cooking.

When I go shopping, I rarely visit the meat aisle with the exception of chicken (and I raise chickens!). I get my beef from a relative's farm and occasionally get a side of pork cut and processed from the meat processor for about a dollar a pound cheaper. Freezers come in all sizes anymore and buying in bulk is much cheaper. You can find room in an apartment for one if you are creative.

I'm predicting a negative 1.5% for 2Q '14 (after revisions of course). Consumer spending is still way way in the toilet.

If you don't believe that just look at Walmart's year over year revenues.

What happened to all of that tax refund spending spreed? It went to pay for gas, the mortgage, and groceries...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

There is a simple explanation, while GDP was positive year over year, Obamco was deficit spending about $1 trillion a year or about 6-8% of GDP.

Now, through their difficult reductions in spending (lol) they're down to $500 billion a year deficit spending, or roughly 3-4% GDP, meaning 3-4% less incremental boost to GDP through debt based spending.

You are asking the wrong question. The right question is, how much of government spending/meddling in the economy has distorted both prices and demand?

Or, another way to say that is, what would happen to prices and demand if the government got out of economic planning entirely in 1 day?

Think of the various ramifications, and I'm sure that you will stop worrying about 1 particular job, when the entire structure of the economy could potentially collapse.

Ya know this county thrived just fine without import/exports.
We did just fine holding our own. We didn't rely on china or any other nation for the prosperity of America other than immigration. we didn't start having economic issues until we opened up the global markets buying everything from over seas and sending our jobs overseas. as soon as we did that, the writing was on the wall. Ross Perot was spot on with NAFTA Doom. just like Ron Paul is Spot On with everything else.

This country needs a serious ass kicking and hopefully the Stupid sleeping sheeple won't survive or hopefully wake the F UP.

The super rich has everyone over a barrel. and for sure they will remain super rich while the shit rolls down hill. What do they care about the little guy or even the underling.

Now with the rising global economies on the same level and flying past us there's a new superpower in town and it called super rich economic warfare. Someones getting kicked out of the sand box.

Who needs guns and bombs when you can totally annihilated your competition/enemy financially. The Art of War M*ther F*ckers.

The euro, the dollar, the pound all fiat, all fucked.

Its getting near to the end of the game, the corruption is so huge but so clear, they dont even try to hide it any more, the sheep are just too dumb to figure it out.

The dollar's going down fast, it started slow but its accelerating, so many non dollar agreement being signed, the US is flat out clowning itself due to its inabilty to make a logical foreign policy decision. Isis are out of control and the situation is ripe for Putin to show the way forward, russian boots in iraq? Maybe and if i does happen american hegemony is toast.

Not sure how its gonna play out though... Gold backed currancies or debt jubilee? or of course war...

The dollar has got 5 years as reserve currency left tops, you folks really dont wanna be holding bundles of toilet paper when they all come flooding back.

clothing at the cheap cheap stores like target and kholls, etc too.

obviously these are not life essentials but there is deflation, just in the fluff areas.

Well the problem is they spent $250 Billion in 1Q '14 and got a negative return of $74 Billion out of that...law of diminishing returns becomes the law of negative returns...

Printing money in a chronically low interest rate environment will have a continually diminishing rate of return to GDP, until finally that return becomes negative, at which point...the game is up.

I would say ask any economist, but 1/2 of them have never examined fiat monetary policy all the way through it's inevitable end point. But I have...

Ahh but see, these "non-essential" spending items are the first to go, while essential items are going through the roof.

Hyper-inflation is not inflation, it is a lack of confidence in the fiat currency in question. Meaning essential items will inflate to the moon, while non-essential items languish on the shelves, while retailers continually discount them in an effort to sell them.

Hyper-inflation is both inflation and deflation...for a modern (globalist) example, see the U.S.S.R. or Argentina, where bread was selling for exorbitant prices, while the stock market was crashing through the floor...
