BREAKING: FIFA Bans World Cup Star Luis Suarez From Playing International Football For 9 Games - 4 Months Club Ban...
BREAKING: FIFA's DISCIPLINARY COURT HANDS URUGUAYAN STRIKER LUIS SUAREZ A NINE-GAME INTERNATIONAL BAN ONLY MOMENTS-AGO — CAN'T PLAY CLUB FOOTBALL FOR FOUR MONTHS, NEITHER!

Sky News reporting right now that the FIFA Disciplinary Court has just announced on live television that they have handed Uruguayan World Cup striker Luis Suarez a nine-game ban from International football, meaning he banned from playing in the rest of the World Cup for Uruguay. This is the longest ban from the World Cup since the 1994 "elbow" of an Italy defender who only got an eight-game ban.

FIFA has also banned the Uruguayan star from playing for his English club Liverpool for 4 months, too. This means that the striker will miss Liverpool's nine first games of the season, meaning not playing for The Anfield team untill sometime in November. He will also be banned from playing in several European matches for his Merseyside club next season, aswell.

FIFA also fined Suarez One-Hundred-Thousand Swiss Franks/Sixty-Five-Thousand Pounds (SF100,000/£65,000). He is expected to appeal, however, even if just to play in the Uruguay v Columbia game next week. FIFA also said during today's press statement that Suarez is banned from entering all football stadiums worldwide.

Liverpool, the club for which luis Suarez plays for, may now be considering selling their striker who continues to be a liability, according to those close to the club's boardroom. He is currently valued at £70,000,000 and Real Madrid is already being regarded as a likely buyer.

More news coming...

ICELANDIC NOTES: I am surprised by the leniency of FIFA's ban, especially after all the criticism I was receiving for going against the tide of anti-Suarez sentiment after the biting incident. I was of the belief from the very beginning that all of the hysteria that generated after Luis Suarez's superficial bite on Chiellini's shoulder was grossly exaggerated and could never be honestly regarded as career-threatening as was the lunge by another Italian player at a Uruguayan's shin in the same game.
It was wrong to ban Suarez from playing club football for the nine games he'll now be missing for Liverpool, however.

Weak FIFA
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58881244

If you go solely by the so-called "harm" done to Chiellini then banning him for nine International games, thus making him miss the rest of the World Cup, is disproportionate to the actually injury which WAS only superficial. However; FIFA was spooked by all the worldwide hysteria that has been generated following the incident and acted quickly to settle things down. It DOES look kooky, however, seeing a professional International footballer at a FIFA World Cup biting another player in a live match and certainly does the beautiful game of footie no good atall!

The striker should be grateful that FIFA's Disciplinary Court WAS so lenient.

I think it all depends on how a person looks at the whole thing, 2012Portal. The whole world Seeing Luis Suarez biting another player — a DEFENDER! — was very uncomfortable for FIFA and they were ALWAYS going to address the whole case swiftly.

But those of us who took into consideration that FAAAR worse fouls have been comitted than this small bite that only left a FEW little teeth marks (and NOT all those marks shown in the photoshoped pics) and didn't even draw ONE drop of blood, and for THOSE more malicious fouls only red cards were handed out, took our stand on the whole incident.

It really doesn't matter how severe the bite was. Although there are no doubt more career threatening injuries out there that came from the result of an extremely harsh challenge, as a footballer you understand those risks and expect that it will happen to you at some point. Footballers should have a reasonable expectation of not being bitten while playing their sport. The guy has done it three freaking times, and yes I agree he's lucky he didn't get a longer ban.

Meh...if one of us mortals did that at work, we'd be sacked and banned for life...even after the first offense. And he gets paid big bucks for what he does.

I tend to agree with your post, but going by your own argument, can't people reply by saying players should accept biting, aswell. I mean...if players have to accept VERY malicious, career-ending fouls then why not the odd — and in comparison it is only the odd — bite, too?!?!

This isn't about the danger such onfield behaviour puts players in, it's about image — FIFA knows that. However; kooky behaviour on live television is obviously a no-no and Suarez should have known what would happen, after last season's Premiership biting incident as a player for Liverpool.

Suarez is lucky to have gotten-away so lightly. Period.

I think biting is a lot more punishable because it is a lot more easy to define as malicious. I totally agree that if a player is judged to have caused serious injury with intent to do so should be punished just as punitively, but in most cases a sliding tackle or foul of that nature is rarely cut and dry and often open to interpretation over the intent of the offending player.

When you bite someone, you bite them, thats it. There's no excuse for it.

^ Your point concerning biting being "more easily definable" is correct, friend. There is never any debate or room for interpretation when it happens! However, I've seen at least two or three lunges into players' shins that were obvious deliberate and malicious actions. I suggest you try to find "THOSE" "Broken Shins" football videos on YouTube to see how horrific and how sickening it looks when such fouls are comitted and the consequences are a receiving player's shin bone literally becoming a broken semi-circle with a sock on it! Try searchng for Roy Keane's nefarious foul against the Norwegian player that took place during a Premiership match sometme in the mid-'90s. You'll throw up, dude!
This was a HUGE, strong ethnic Nordic man who I'm talking about too, not some puny work-shy jew, so it goes to show how fatal to a player's career lunges can be. I hate what Suarez did as much as you guys but he's hardly as malicious as the reactionary social networking hysteria sites are making him out to be!

Peace.

Oh, I agree. That said, this was his third time BITING, more-or-less, outside of the field of play. (meaning not going for a ball and this or that happened.)

He thought this out. Saw his victim and went in for the bite. Wrong. Very, very wrong.

That all said, not 4 months banned. Way too long. If he injured someone, then for sure. But these players have no lasting effects. Personally I think Suarez should be required to see a shrink and fix this problem. That biting just has to stop, otherwise it will ruin him.

Indeed, Nigel de Jong for instance, has broken three peoples legs. Even broke an Americans leg in a FRIENDLY match right up here in Amsterdam. Those are series offences, even though I am sure he does not mean to break their legs. Yet, for that half-a-second, he goes in for the kill, so to speak. He should not. Foul play. Just as bad, or actually must worse (in a different way) to what Suarez does.

We will need De Jong against Mexico, so do not say this to FIFA just yet!

^ Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!!!!!! "Mum's" the word, dude — I will keep your De Jong intel SILENT!!!!!

Did you see the news today, concerning the (bitten) Italian player Chiellini telling the press that he thinks FIFA was "too severe" in their punishment to Suarez?!?!... I was surprised, to say the least!

Suarez has tarnished his entire career, now. The whole world saw his kooky (weird, batsh*t crazy) behaviour. You don't behave like an animal at the World Cup and expect everyone to just disregard it as "nothing big".

Okay. I wish you all well, now. Holland are a lovely team to watch and I had an exciting time watching thei first game! "THAT" flying header by Man. United's forward Van Persie was EPIC!. An unforgetable sight!

English footie pundits used to call Dutch football "flowery"! They should watch them more and maybe learn how to play, from them...
