Grant Morrison's "Pop Magic" is a good intro to magic.

Really, a lot of stuff from the Disinfo Company's Book of Lies.

There's more resources but they include autoban words so I don't think I can share.

That's great and all except the writing I recommended doesn't have anything to do with 'magic tricks.'

Also, I'd recommend staying away from some of the more famous grimoires until you've got your feet under you. For example, anything having to do with the names Solomon, Abramelin, or Agrippa.

Further thought:

A Monk that knows Chemistry and Physics would be pretty bad ass!

Think the last time that happened the guy almost discovered everything!

I doubt the hidden stuff is at college. I didn't think the hidden stuff was important until near the end of college anyway. Those secret societies prefer college graduates because they are easier to train.

Franz Bardon was put into a concentration camp because he would not share his information with Hitler's Nazis.
Aliester creepy Crawley was imo a British Psych ops and a good one at that.

What are you wishing to do OP?
Psych? View? Spells? Heal?
Transmute your own spirit?

Me to, I want to know why your interested in magic?

I mean, do you want to study the light side or the dark?

Is your interest grey magic basically, that sloppy hit and miss stuff?

You might look for a teacher rather than a book.

Be Careful, Grasshopper.
