I think the whole World Cup thing is part of a UN push to globalize America's world view the same way they destroyed the national identities of Europe with the EU.
Quoting: Keats Agree somewhat, that is, with first part, except the UN part of the first part. However, while destroying the national identities of the Europeans may have been the goal of TPTB, it certainly hasn't worked out that way: Europeans are as proud and nationalistic as ever.
