Those areas aren't prepared for even the simple hurricanes and this just proves how bad it's going to be for Florida this year because this is the first cat 2 hurricane to make landfall in 6 years and it's not even hurricane season yet. I'm not excited for what is in store for us Floridians.

NC evacuated more than 50 fighter jets & stratotankers to Ohio Thursday morning to protect them from being damaged by high winds.

im hoping that it just hits NC and goes out to sea. they usaully do so after hitting NC. i went through a few back in the late 90's and early 00's. except for the islands which are used to rebuilding the land is perfect to buffer storm surge and other bad effects of hurricanes.

im hoping but i have felt that this could catch the whole east coast. forecast paths keep edging west. once again i am happy i live in ohio away from the worst effects of the beasts that we will see come up the coast. Sandy was just a tease i think of the future.

This is standard procedure. Why put millions if not billions of dollars and War Ready resources in the path of a storm if all you got to do is fly them inland?

Do Hurricanes even happen in JULY? Is this normal?
Do you have eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to understand? JESUS CHRIST is the ONLY WAY to SALVATION, DELIVERANCE and PEACE! Soon his grace will be taken from the earth and his WRATH will be poured out. Accept JESUS CHRIST while the GRACE of GOD is still available. May the Peace of God be with you! Love, Pray, Repent and Forgive.

That video is not of Arthur. Believe me when it was that light outside there on the beach there was a breeze that is all it was. Seen it on the local news as well as WC, I also live in NC, and believe me it wasn't bad like that.

I lived at the Outer Banks many years. Arthur coursed a dangerous route up the Pamilco likely causing heavy soundside flooding. The storm may have formed a new inlet near Buxton, ending the tourist season for villages south. I saw hurricane Alex, a cat one storm do major damage in 2004. I believe it's track was farther east. Fourth of July many there will never forget.

Kill Devil Hills, NC

LOL NICE NAME eh?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54705353

Name origin
The name Kill Devil Hills dates back to the Colonial era. Shipwrecks were common at the time, and many of the ships were transporting barrels of rum. When a ship foundered, local wreckers would scavenge what they could of the ship's cargo before it sank, hiding their pilfered rum behind, and sometimes in, the same large sand dunes where the Wright Brothers would later perform glider tests, before flying their first plane from level ground nearby. Since rum was called "Kill Devil" by the English at the time the dunes became known as "Kill Devil Hills."

Hurricane Season starts June 1 and goes through late November.

There is nothing abnormal about this hurricane.

It is currently a Cat 1 not a Cat 2.

If you live anywhere affected by hurricanes you know that anything from a Cat 1 to low Cat 3 is grounds for a hurricane party...beer, food, games, etc.

And you never evacuate when the .gov or media tell you to, so long as you're acutely aware of the storm science, official NHC updates, and your region's roads and routes to safety.

It's like you all are from Ohio or something.

because it WILL NOT affect the rich 'one percenters',
that live in florida, or texas, or new york.

P.S. remember the storm that FORMED AN EYE,

OVER FLORIDA, (first one ever, over land)

WITH 65 MPH WINDS, (first one ever, under 74 mph)

then to petered out over the ocean.
(but was forecast to increase to a cat. 2)
