Cultural integration

There is a show on TV right now about desegregation and some family getting picked on for being a different ethnic minority in a neighborhood. I made the observation that the people were protesting forced integration not race and was told it was necessary to forcibly integrate. I said if that is the case why don't you support opening the borders and allowing the Mexican people to come here at which point I was yelled at to shut up. I was told that these minorities had to be integrated bc they were Americans. I said that the issue to me didn't seem to be citizenship but multiculturalism. Anyway the other person totally raged out. It is ironic bc I am friend of blacks whites and mexicans. Why did I just get screamed at? Am I really too stupid to get it or what? Someone care to help me understand?
