Re: Visit from 'Juan, the cableman'. Women only thread please. Preventative measures always necessary.
I changed my service from the cable co. (for internet/phone - NOT tv). The cable man showed up 1.6 hours earlier than when I had it scheduled for.

I decided I would let him in to get it over with and then I'd be free for the rest of the afternoon.

He comes in, sits down at my computer desk, which is a very, very private area to me. I had planned to straighten it up a bit before his arrival BTW.

On my desk, there was a snapshot of me from some time ago. It was not, of course, a nekkid pic but one that my husband had taken in fun, and right after he had woken me up (loves to wake people up). It's me smiling big, hair in my face, covers pulled up and I'm holding a bottle of vitamins.

For some reason, this guy was obsessed with that picture the entire time he was doing his work at my desk. He kept looking at the pic on and off; and I kept trying to engage him in basic conversation but he would not talk and when he did, it was mumbled and low.

Finally, I switched the topic to guns. Ha. That did it. He hurried up and got out of here. On the way out, he did not even say goodbye, I'm done, thank you or anything. He just ran out.

I was not afraid at all - just very creeped out. Dang, let this be a heads up for 'ya when you have a service person come to your home.

Has anyone every had an experience similar to this?

The end.

What did you say about guns when you switched the topic of conversation?
 Quoting: Nikola Tesla

Well Tesla, just your basic gun conversation - do you have any guns? You should get guns in this day and age, etc. etc. I think the message was clear. All he did was mumble, grunt and so forth - oh and keep looking at the snapshot.

I learned from that experience. Snatch that pic up right away - he was in the way - just push him out of the way. lol

I cannot stand that vile spirit. Very familiar with that one from the past, as I said earlier.

Around the same time, I had to meet with an air conditioner repairman and another person who was ripping up some carpet at another location.

Both of them were very polite and professional. I even chatted with the air conditioner guy. Just a good ole boy that looked just like my BIL.

Then the neighbor popped in to 'check on things' I guess.

I work for charter communications for 2 year and I ALLWAYS been respectful to all customers
But one day I went to these house
To install a bundle service ent/ph/tv
And this beautiful woman open the door ( I mean the most beautiful woman in the world)
Wow when I see her in make eye contact and she smile I feel something in my stomach ( very weird never felt that before little shaky ) anyways she say I was waiting for you .!! I was speechless for a sec. Then introduce myself even though my ID badges with name and photo was hanging from my neck she was very nice and there I was nervous
And proceed to do the installation
That day was the only day I felt embarrassed of my self because I noticed I was sweaty I felt dirty :-(
Something I never pay attention to before and hundreds of jobs already have done and I lot of other lady's customer but this one was the one I never forget after I finish the job
I when to my van and get the paperwork and look for chewing gum and try to dry my sweat from my face she was laughing at me because I have this plastic covers in my shoe so I don't get her carpet dirty and I proceeded to explain to her the TV channels they guide and so on she ask me do you like your job ? And I ask why ?
She say you are smiling all the time.!
I guess I was and I have no idea I was doing it.
Anyways when I went out the door and say bye have a good day
In I got in my van and y felt like I was the most happy man in the wold
It was the most happy day of my life and I will never forget.
When I got home I clean my house wash clothes listen music and singing lol don't know why I just know I was happy :-)
I really hope and pray to god are paths cross together one day
Advise: to all the women at there hf
When you have to call for any repair or new installation of services make sure when you talking to customer service request a in home technician
No a subcontractor !!
In home technician
Have to go true background checks and they have to be clean and clear and everything before they ever get the job

I was covered.

I do believe, however, that as time goes by, we are going to have to be even more careful as to our 'steps'.

That is great advice! Not to mention the fact that home techs usually know what they're doing and are more interested in completing the job satisfactorily. I've had some bad sub-contractors :/
