I was told I had everything from scabies to psoriasis from I can't remember how many dermatologists. Tried all the tar shampoos, etc, etc, etc. All the dermatologists did for me was scrach their heads (no pun intended) and prescribe steroids. Finally, I changed laundry products and it's going away. Strange, but true. All sorts of changes once I quit using the detergent they recommended. Stay away from fabric softener as well. |

I Wish User ID: 415 United States 07/21/2006 09:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know you all hate anything that is not natural, but I have found a drug that suppreses psoriasis. The thing is, is't not made for psoriasis.....it's made for Herpes. Now, I don't have Herpes, but my doc decided to try it on me anyways. It's called Valtrex. For some odd reason, while nothing else can even begin to clean up my psoriasis (I used to get it on my stomach, head, feet, arms...) after taking 1gm of Valtrex per day......you can't even tell that I have Psoriasis. And I shit you not, it does work. -Be carefull what you wish for. |

the Questeon ? User ID: 7308 United States 07/21/2006 10:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Try colloidal silver spayed into the hair and scalp. It stopped my hair from falling out! Use miracle soap as your shampoo with drops of oil of oregano and tea tree oil in it. No other shampoo or soaps! Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." From page 405 of Rockefeller's 2002 book Memoirs. Anonymous Coward User ID: 117033 Canada 07/21/2006 09:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oregon Grape Root Extract is the 'newest' herbal treatment. There is a patented extract found in some creams, but a decoction (tea, really) made of Oregon Grape Root should also help. Make the tea - cool it - soak the scalp once daily (overnight-let it dry on). Store the unused in the fridge for up to one week. It is pretty much harmless, barring allergy. It is inexpensive and doesn't smell bad at all. The success rate is about 50% in the official medical studies. It's a why not thing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 113144 United States 07/21/2006 09:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i have the same thing... im not sure if its psoriasis though. derm said sebbhoiric dermatitis i have it on my scalp and on my face. it really sucks and i haven't found anything that works very well (i'm staying away from steroids) it's not very noticable if i moisturize but every lotion i try tends to make it a lot worse (the next day the peeling/scaling will be worse than normal) can anyone recommend a good moisturizer? something light.. maybe a gel (not aloe vera gel, tried that already) i dealt with pretty bad acne through my teen years and it really hindered how social and active i really wanted to be. now the acne is under control but just as that happened it's like it transitioned into this other skin condition so i'm living my nightmare all over again. suck to be me :( |
TRY THIS! User ID: 115829 United States 07/21/2006 09:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Shampoo DAILY with inexpensive brand (Suave Clarifying works for me) laced with Tea Tree Oil. Use Paul Mitchell Ahupawi Mist after you shampoo to comb your hair. You will see a difference within days. Tea Tree oil is also inexpensive and available everywhere. If you're not a chemist and have cash to spare, pick up "Jason" brand Tea Tree Shampoo available @ Albertson's in 17.5 ounce container for $8.99... I was told by a dermatologist for the bottom of the hairline on the nape of the neck and around the ears that Tar type shampoo is effective. I've been dealing with the sore scalp since 1994 and received a tip from a Ukrainian hair stylist less than a year ago. "Good things come to those who wait" Good luck |
