psuper psoriasissy User ID: 116586 United States 07/21/2006 10:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | enbrel works, but it is $30 grand a year, as soon as you stop the psoriasis comes back, and if you have an underlying infection, like tuberculosis, it might cause it to freaking explode the coal tar shampoos have carcinogens in them i have tried a lot of shit, and nothing seems to work there is an artificial vitamin d3 metabolite creme called dovonex that i am going to see if medicare covers, as it is screamingly expensive...supposedly it works...but it isnt for the scalp |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 117033 Canada 07/21/2006 10:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a Dovonex Scalp Solution. It too is obscenely expensive. Enbrel is an immune response modifier. No one has ANY idea what the long term consequences of using it are. I would expect lymphomas and the like. No rash, however irritating, is worth dying over. Try Oregon Grape Root. The odds are 50/50 with no real downside. |

Neutrogena TGel seems to help but not totally. Seb Derm is related to times of high stress... You do have to wash your hair everyday if you have that. If it is psoriasis- the Flax seed will clear it up. |

TRY THIS! User ID: 115829 United States 07/21/2006 10:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I too have the same diagnosis and wrote the post that follows yours above. I also have some face involvement which seems similar, but in my case was diagnosed as Rosacea. For that I get a prescription cream called Metro. Don't get the lotion it's a mess. You'll know you have Rosacea if you've had conjunctivitis in the recent past. They travel together. If not, ask your dermatologist about Metro cream. Another thing that helped, but it's something you must return for regularly is some kind of ultraviolet ray used on the face. Good luck. |

It is called 'Palma de Christe' in some cultures, "Hand of Christ," for it's astounding healing properties on skin problems. Worth a try, I guess. I would try it, if it were me in that boat. Also be sure you are getting all the trace minerals. |

It's expensive, about $15 dollars per 7oz, but it really worked for me. It's also a high-end shampoo with no odor, unlike Head and shoulders or that coal tar crap that smell like an expired multi-vitamin. Careful with that tea tree oil, I heard it will give you man boobs. Truly great madness cannot be achieved without significant intelligence. -Henrik Tikkanen |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 447719 United States 07/13/2008 03:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i have the same thing... im not sure if its psoriasis though. derm said sebbhoiric dermatitis Quoting: Anonymous Coward 113144i have it on my scalp and on my face. it really sucks and i haven't found anything that works very well (i'm staying away from steroids) it's not very noticable if i moisturize but every lotion i try tends to make it a lot worse (the next day the peeling/scaling will be worse than normal) can anyone recommend a good moisturizer? something light.. maybe a gel (not aloe vera gel, tried that already) i dealt with pretty bad acne through my teen years and it really hindered how social and active i really wanted to be. now the acne is under control but just as that happened it's like it transitioned into this other skin condition so i'm living my nightmare all over again. suck to be me :( Research Jojoba oil from cactus. It is like 15 bucks for a little bottle in a healthfood store. Absorbs into skin fast. I'm a dude so I don't like to walk about with shiny skin. The oil is one of the only that actually cleans your pores. I had your condition around my nose and upper lip really bad and it has been great with this oil for about two years. All I do is wash with soap in the shower and use jojoba now. It is actually a natural fungicide derived from cactus seeds that exists as an oil. dermatitis is largely due to stubborn fungus. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 463378 Canada 07/13/2008 08:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My step dad had the same problem then he got proscribed the new medicine called Embrell he injects it 2x a week. It works as he has no traces anywhere left after just 2 month the only downs side is it's made out of aborted fetuses and I would not touch it even for medicine however others can :). But I know another way that my great great granny used to advise to people in the village back in 1920 (till the last war1995) as she would tell me after I asked about what it was as this lady was visiting and she had it. My grandma was a East European women, remote village, generation to generation healing medicine.... Anyway she used to say water is the essence of life therefore the cure of it all. She told me if you take 5 days (7days after you are more used to the routine) out of each month to not eat anything but only drink water you will have no disease especially skin related. She lived long, strong and vise, eat once a day only a solid meal and fruit and drank teas she would harvest herself only, (I swear she must be getting buzzed off those teas she liked so). Try the water thing make sure you drink 2 to 2.5 liters of water a day and eat nothing. If you need a sugar boast take half of tea spoon a day. You will have a headache for 1st 2 days and irritation but everything will be fine otherwise. If you have any other health problems advise your doctor and ask for advice. Trust me it works a miracle. |

It was prescription only until two years ago for scalp psoriasis. [link to www.nizoral.com] It is FDA approved. Now available OTC. I used it and no longer have the problem or need to use the shampoo. Sweet relief from scalp itch in about 7 days, then use it only 2 times a week. Only needed to use it twice a week for 3 months to solve the problem. Holistic remedies be damned. Dandruff is caused by a fungus, and it takes MEDICINE to remove it. "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
