This is 100% true. In my small town there is an apartment complex and I know a few people who live down there. The one guy has cops showing up regularly saying things like there was a domestic violence reported at that address and they would ask him if they could talk to his girlfriend when he's single. He told them there isn't anyone else home, just him. They ended up talking their way in "just to make sure", so they searched his place.

Another time they showed up knocking on the door and said a 911 call was made from his address and he doesn't have a land line phone! He told them that he didn't even have a phone, and they talked their way in "just to make sure".

Luckily he didn't have anything in plain view, but still I couldn't live somewhere that the cops bothered me like that!
