REMEMBER NON-ELECTION-YEAR 2005, FEW IF ANY TERROR THREATS - HMMM...WONDER IF THERE IS A CORRELATION by A. Alexander
"It is rather strange too, that in election year 2006 the American people have so far, two new terrorism-related sound-bite/catch phrases to add to their vocabulary. While 2005 was free of "homegrown terrorists" and terror plots that were "more aspirational than operational" 2006, or better said election-season 2006, has all ready had two such "incidents"."

Remember Non-Election-Year 2005, Few if Any Terror Threats - Hmmm...Wonder if There is a Correlation

A. Alexander, July 9th, 2006

Remember 2005? That was the year anchored between election 2004 and election 2006. It was also a year lacking in a weekly dose of "terror threats". Interesting indeed that 2005, a year free of elections was also more-or-less lacking in terrorist threats aimed at America's tall buildings and mass transit systems. Too, 2005 was the year that witnessed both Bush and Republicans' polling numbers decline as it related to whether they or Democrats were better at protecting the people from terrorism.

Interesting too, that Karl Rove said in election year 2006, Republicans would engage in "culture war" issues like gay marriage and flag-burning - and they did. Rove also said Republicans would use the Iraq War against Democrats - and they did. Too, Rove said Republicans would highlight terrorism in 2006 - and suddenly America is awash in terror threats and plots.

Let's see: Election years 2004 and 2006, full of terror threats but non-election-year 2005, few terror threats. Hmmm...wonder if there is any correlation? Election years: lots of terror threats. Non-election-years: few terror threats. What to make of that?

It is rather strange too, that in election year 2006 the American people have so far, two new terrorism-related sound-bite/catch phrases to add to their vocabulary. While 2005 was free of "homegrown terrorists" and terror plots that were "more aspirational than operational" 2006, or better said election-season 2006, has all ready had two such "incidents". A bit odd, too, that these "homegrown terrorists" and "more aspirational than operational" terror plots just happened to coincide so neatly with the Republican Congressional campaigns that were launched into full-swing in the merry month of June. Hmmm...wonder if there is any correlation?

Apparently, during all of non-election-year 2005, any and all "aspirational" terror plots were allowed to limp toward a "more aspirational" status and only during election year 2006 were they halted in mid-"more aspirational than operational"-stream. What possible political purpose could be served by this sudden rash of election-year 2006 "homegrown terrorism" and "more aspirational than operational" non-threat terror-threats? Could it be that these non-threat terror-threats make the Bush administration appear to be "tough on terrorism", knock all the bad news coming out of Iraq off the headlines, and help reinforce all the old 9/11 fears that the people, who've decided Democrats would be better at governance than Republicans, seem to have forgotten? Hmmm...wonder if there is any correlation?

Yes, does anyone remember non-election-year 2005? That was the year of few terror threats. It just happened to fall between election-years 2004 and 2006, which just happen to be years chocked full of terror threats. Hmmm...wonder if there is any correlation?

All of them were during non-election year...

The article specifically addresses the differences between the years 2004, 2005 and 2006, not prior. [link to www.wannalearn.com]

I could respond by suggesting that your screen name raises some questions in my mind as well but, frankly, I don't give a rat's ass what your opinion is of me.

Verstandt?

This report comes from a source that doesn't necessarily get a lot of cooperation from the US Government PR dept. It's basing it's information off of threats that got public coverage by news agencies.

DHS, DOD, DOJ, USSS, DSS all get threats of terrorism every week. I can't count the number of bullitens that were on the board when I was in the office last month...none of them you can find on CNN or Drudge.

You can call mass-media news biased to the un-informed...but this kind of news posting is just as biased. It just focuses on a different demographic.
