i'm worried that they may stay in hiding
because we will pester them ceaselessly
with tests and trials instead of learning
what we need to learn

Wisdom is when we are conscious of others (including non-human life=forms) like we are of ourselves. It's the extension of consciousness to include others which is wisdom, and wisdom is the basis of balanced relationships.
