Does anyone actually own a Roomba?

Have dogs. Turn it on as we leave for work every morning. Does a great job.

It worked great until I moved in this rent house that had power surges all the time. Damn Austin Energy.

The Roomba does also.

I have two of them...

A first gen and a 3rd gen...

They work great on all surfaces except carpet. My entire 1st floor is wood, so I turn those fuckers on and come home to clean(ish) floors.

It's like having two retarded kids attempt to sweep your floors.

That having been said. I'd feel like a tard if I had paid full price for them. I bought mine off woot.com for about a third retail price.

Her name is Cheryl and She is my maid. I received her as a gift and she lives under my bed.

Roombas are an interesting product, certainly not useful for "carpeting". But, I have wall to wall seagrass in my bedroom and the down and feather bunnies that collect under the bed are perfect for her. She also does well on the hardwood.

Even though she is my maid, she is always telling me what to do…Clean Roomba, Charge Roomba.

Not a bad product for lite dust and such, not good if you have hairy animals and wall to wall carpeting.

Listen, guys. You need to run them daily. I'm not quite sure why no one I've given them to uses the scheduler (although everyone likes them).

Dog hair, carpet, doesn't matter. If you run it daily (I do it via the scheduler), it will keep your shit tidy.

If, on the other hand, you run it once a month, you'll be sorely disappointed. It can't replace a human.

Run it daily, and you'll empty it once a week.

I had one a few years ago, works well but if you don't run them regularly the batteries die quick, in about 6 months. At $60 a pop it got to be too expensive.

I have had several versions of them and currently have the pet one. I have lots of pets. Ask me a question.

I have two, and one for parts. No carpets in the house, just wood or vinyl, and they do a great job. They get that fine dust that a broom doesn't get. This means less dusting too. I can really tell the difference when I have got lax about running them.

They don't clean up sticky on the kitchen floor, which is too bad during canning season, but regular dust and small debris they just take it away.

They are both older machines, so I don't do the scheduling thing, I just put them where I want them.

I love my Roombas, and I tell them so when they are finished doing such a good job.

ps. I tried one on my mother's carpet and it did not do so well as on the hard surface floors

My cat was mesmerized by it but if it came anywhere close she gave it a WIDE berth, lol :)

Yeah. It sucks. But. It's better than no roomba, for sure.

They have always worked excellently for me.

I lov how this cat seems to be chillin while riing this Roomba. This video makes me smile big time when I watch it.

The way it sucks is amazing. This thread, not the vacuum cleaner. Suggested unpin.

We have two, one that mops, they both work great. Batteries need replaced every couple of years, and one time the dog crapped on the floor and it went through it and smeared it all around...LOL.
That was really gross, but the wife cleaned it all up.

Mine works great! It's a powerful little vacuum. Picks up every tiny little speck of dust really well. It even works well on carpet and for pet hair and dander. Mine is a green one and is model # 400. I could really use some invisible walls for it tho.

Yes and its amazing how much dust/dirt it manages to find and pickup. Especially under furniture and beds.

I've thought about buying one, or similar like it, however from the ones of seen in use (a friend has one) they are just poorly designed and implemented pieces of Chinese made crap.

The problem with technology is that if it cannot be made into cheap consumer grade crap, 'they' don't let us have it - unless we have alot of money...

I looked at the Neato web site someone posted - they want
$799.00 for it! How many people can justify spending $800 bucks on a vacuum cleaner?

Neato is better. The roomba just roams randomly. The neato is mo smarter.

I own 3.
I buy them used/broken for a song, repair them myself, and now have an unholy army of killer robots at my command.

They are xcellent, just don't allow them to travel back through time to target your mother before you were born.

I've had both and definitely prefer the Neato.

They don't work very well going down the stairs

I took the battery out, and frankly turned the garden hose on it at high pressure until cat poop stopped coming out of it.

Then I turn the blow dryer on it, left it in the sun for a couple of hours, put the battery back in, viola, perfect.

Roomba is pretty outdated, the Neato is so much better, especially when it knows exactly where to go to recharge its batteries. Neato is like light years ahead of the Roomba.
