Putins repeated calls for UN ICAO to investigate the Ukrainian crash,as reported by the BBC and Telegraph in Great Britain,including a video Putin released last night calling for the same again.

German,French,Polish,and a Chinese ICAO inspectors are in Kiev and have been for 3 days,but not being allowed to leave Kiev by the government of Ukraine for "their own safety" as reported by the New York Times 7/20.

"It is essential that a full-scale team of experts under the International Civil Aviation Organization gets to work at the site of the disaster, and a corresponding international commission. We must do everything to ensure full, absolute security, and guarantee a humanitarian corridor for their work," he said.

"We have repeatedly called on all sides in the conflict to immediately cease the bloodshed and come to the negotiating table. We can say with certainty that if military activity in Eastern Ukraine had not resumed on 28 June, this tragedy might not have happened."

"Everyone responsible for the situation in the region must fulfil their responsibilities not only to their own peoples, but before the people of those countries whose citizens became victims of this catastrophe," he added.


Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a statement lambasting those who use the downing of a passenger jet in eastern Ukraine for "mercenary objectives".

In a statement posted on the Kremlin website, Mr Putin again lashed out at Ukraine for ongoing violence with pro-Russian rebels in the eastern part of the country.

The Russian leader also said he supports a crash investigation by a "full team of experts" under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, a UN agency.

Drawn up by Australia, the text was changed to state that the plane was "downed" rather than "shot down" in an apparent bid to get Russians on board.

Russia(*and Germany) has however filed a rival resolution, which removes references to Ukraine leading the investigation - which is what should happen according to UN law, which stipulates that the state where the crash occurred is responsible for any investigation - and instead proposes the UN's aviation authority be put in charge. <----this is what the USA is blocking.

America, Europe and Western Ukraine have the most to benefit from Russia and the rebels taking the fall from this issue. I don't think however they are stupid enough to do something like this.

In this case, what seems the most likely is it was the pro-Russian separatists. Remember this is a terrorist group with more than a few screws loose. They are perfectly capable of making a dumb-ass mistake like this.
