We are all made of stardust. It sounds like a line from a poem, but there is some solid science behind this statement too: almost every element on Earth was formed at the heart of a star.

Momentary and meaningless my ass... Dawkins, as a scientists, and the people who praise his intellect understand that we are all a part of the greater cosmos that we live in. That can have the effect of making you feel small and insignificant, but that is you failing to understand that you are a part of the whole. I firmly believe that beyond race, beyond economic barriers, religion serves only to divide mankind. It was useful once upon a time, but we as a species have outgrown the need for supernatural explanations for life, the universe, and everything.

Think of it like this: When you were a child (and from the content of 99.99% of your posts defaming Darwin and Dawkins I'm not totally sure you aren't) Things like Santa Claus, and The Tooth Fairy were tools to help you understand the natural world around you. I.E. Santa taught you that you will be rewarded for kindness / following the rules. Now as an adult you know that while you won't necessarily be rewarded for following the ruled, you won't be punished. (There are exceptions of course, but that's another matter entirely.)

The same can be said for religion. It was an attempt by early man to understand the natural world around them. I.E. God / Odin / The Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe and thus we must worship it / him / them.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, someone figured out that mortal fear for the immortal soul is a very effective motivator.

It boggles the mind that in this day and age more people can't see that they are the marionettes dancing on the strings of their spiritual puppeteers.
