Anonymous Coward User ID: 37506790 United States 07/27/2014 12:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey guys EYEWITNESS HERE Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37506790 I spent the day in Yosemite today and got a good look at the fire. Wen we drove up we had no idea there was a fire and as soon as we saw it we noticed signs all over the road that said CONTROLLED FIRE DO NOT REPORT It was very small then. As we left the fire was enormous and blocked out the sun. I got some amazing pictures. On our way out there were a lot of fire trucks and police heading the opposite way So.. These signs... Do they out em up because they don't want people to panic? Or because it was STARTED by the park service and was MEANT to be controlled, and got out of hand? Or a third option? Pics or I call BS on you being there. Pictures of the signs for sure. Wy don't u find something else to do besides bring a douche bag all the time I'm not uploading pics from my personal life for GLP Take what I said as fact or leave it The signs could man anything I'll take what you posted as fact, unless otherwise indicated by something else. I agree with your telling this person to find something else to do, but seems that lots of people on here don't have anything else to do! Anyway, the forest service don't usually do controlled burns during the summer months. Too dangerous. The signs could have been left there for some reason, but this just doesn't add up. How many emergency vehicles did you see? What color were they? Any unmarked vehicles? Anything out of the ordinary that you can think of? I'm not from this area so I wouldn't know what the normal fire truck is in these parts. They weren't normal red trucks cities use though. They seem especially suited to wilderness fires as they looked capable of offloading. Besides there there were police rushing down there. This was more than two hours after we first saw the smoke Like I said I don't know why the signs are there. But it had the words CONTROLLED FIRE DO NOT REPORT |

But it had the words CONTROLLED FIRE DO NOT REPORT Disregard the boneheads who can't conduct a normal conversation. Don't respond to them. I live up here in the Sierra's and there have been lots of US forst service trucks around lately. Fire season has come early though, as you probably know. There are some other possiblities with respect to how this fire got started, but most people will just accept the usual explanations. Given what is going on in the world right now, this could be someting else. Fire is an excellant weapon, especially when it comes down from a source other than a lightning storm! Stay safe, and good night! |

[link to www.modbee.com] A wildfire that burned between 300 and 500 acres near Foresta in Yosemite National Park on Saturday afternoon forced mandatory evacuations for the community, said park spokeswoman Kari Cobb. The blaze started mid-afternoon and was moving northeast and uphill, towards Foresta’s big meadow, The cause of the fire remains unknown. There have been more than 3,000 lightning strikes in or around Yosemite since July 14, but there haven’t been strikes near Foresta recently, Cobb said. The park is monitoring a few other lightning fires in the high Sierra, she said. Between 3:30 and 4 p.m., an El Portal resident heard the sound of an electric line shorting, and within minutes smoke and flames were close to homes in the community. The blaze then moved up the hill, threatening Foresta homes on the other side of the ridge. Read more here: [link to www.modbee.com] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6654798 Sounds like a pretty stupid, asinine thing to do, a "controlled burn" with a severe drought in progress. That doesn't make any sense? Demon Worshipers at large? Cal Fire does them all the time for hazard reduction; occasionally one gets away for a bit. [link to www.mymotherlode.com] Well-chosen controlled burns are sometimes the smartest thing during a drought, to reduce risk of much bigger uncontrolled blazes. At present, this one is a blip compared to last year's Rim Fire. That was a monster. [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 60728947 United Kingdom 07/27/2014 05:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | do you know how fast magma rises? at about the rate your fingernails grow. people think it's some fast flowing fluid, but that is only true once it makes the break through. until then, it gets closer and closer to the surface, obviously making the surface hotter and hotter. this isn't something that happens QUICKLY. it can take years, decades, centuries even, but to me, with EVERYTHING going on in the NW of the USA, this is just another red flag we should be throwing onto the huge pile of red flags lately. |

From everyday forward, you will see an increase in attacks on the USA. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1313288 Those so called white flags are bleached out. You can faintly see the stars and strips on them. I saw it on the news. You can see the stars and stripes but why they are " Bleached and not Colored is the mystery. |

I'd be wondering if the heat from the ground could cause fires to break out. Quoting: Yes I Did !!!! Didn't that happen around Santa Barbara a few years ago ? That's what was reported in SB, but it wasn't the truth. because YOU say so? Because there were kids partying. I live in the area. I hear things. ...Unless we're talking about different fires. We get a lot of them in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Were you thinking of the one in Thousand Oaks/Camarillo? THAT one was caused from heat from the ground. |
