Re: Court Ends Private Property Rights: All Water To Be Controlled By Government
Its a bill, that the article fails to mention if it was even passed, not a court decision. Yet.
As far as water goes, that is one thing that I pesonally feel should not be gobbled up and possessed by corporate money grubbing. Water is a basic neccessity of life and even cities and states would not exist without it. It is the one thing that I truly believe ought to be provided by the government (local or state) with our tax dollars. Not something we are charged out the ass for by some water company or corporation who owns the local water supply. Rivers and lakes and an area's water source should be public property. Someone shouldn't be allowed to suck a river or aquifier dry to grow sod. In drought situations, recreation should be curtailed. That's just sensible. Sorry Mr. jet skier.
So much tax money is wasted on frivolous things. Water is not frivolous. Let our tax dollars pay for our first so many gallons of usuage. After that, the company can make their profit on remaining usage. Unfortunately, some people can't recognize the value of water in extreme drought situations and I can see where government would have to step in.

My thoughts have always been:

If you can purify it, it's yours. Obviously this doesn't go for backyard ponds or someones birdbath. As for rivers, lakes, etc...if you can make it potable, it's yours. There is no reason that any 1 company, government, or entity should be able to monopolize water. If you can't make it potable, or need running water in your house...then pay the government to provide it.

A lot of people & cultures live without running water, many in developed countries. However in America it is becoming a crime to not have running water, and the EPA wants to seize the wells/springs so they have sole control over which company to sell it to.

That does NOT mean we don't have to pay for our water - just that if any one entity seeks to control it, that entity does not want you or me alive.

Wrong, Mr. reactionary. You do not have a right to the water he legally bolted for sale. If you want water, dig your own well or pay a city or town to do it for you. Anyone can get water out of a nearby river and go through the process of cleaning and filtering it themselves.

So, are you suggesting that people have a right to the water on my property? From m well? If it is a "human right" then you are forcing me to work to provide water to anyone who demands it?

I am very familiar with their plant located in Mecosta County Michigan where the water is bottled. They draw no more water than what is drawn by a medium sized town in Michigan. And the lake levels are normal and rising.

They are providing a very important service - bottling good, clean water and shipping it all over to places that do not have good, clean water.

And a handsome profit they should make. We should be thanking them.

I just came from an extended trip to VN, a communist country and bottled water provided by private companies is a very important part of a healthy society there. It costs around .25 cents a bottle, but it is better than getting he shits.

That in a country where many people only make $2 a day. So they have to figure out how to get water that is not bottled...... They boil it. No problem.

Still reeling over the news months ago of collecting rain water off the roof results in a fine. Whaa.

Though I read recently from here, some place on the planet has introduced an air tax. I would think the next in line is the life tax. Can't pay it? well that's too bad. Go to the above address for processing.
