Age of medical tools and equipment :P

Some idiot from Europe decided to ask me now.. about why medical equipment in the USA is so old.

I said....

For one thing, its not very old, they can't use out of date medical equipment that doesn't meet FDA standards.

And secondly, nobody buys brand new equipment everyday..
If it not on the shelf at the store or still in its original package, its is NOT brand, spanking new.

and Thirdly... It is new enough to get the job done without risk to you.
Every piece of minor equipment that must be brand new inorder to not be a risk to you, is brand new.... needles, syringes, catheters, prep pads, gowns, disposable oxygen masks, medical tape, tip coverings for medical tools... etc



I never asked how old anything is in a doctors office.. why would somebody ask me that crap ?
