Why is Christianity so schizo?

Just a background on me first. I went to a private christian school, and was raised in the church and I can school most on the bible.

For the last couple months I'even been working out of town, so I go to the laundromat to get my clothes washed. This busted women around 50 is there, and I'm reading a book. She walks up to me and drops a tiny piece of copper in my hand and starts talking about how her and her husband who is a truck driver just had a big shipment and telling me about their travels.

I just talk to her as much as I have to and then go back to reading my book. About 30 minutes later her husband drives up, comes in and starts telling her how he was worried about her then immediately starts asking who I am, where I'm from. Then somehow starts talking about shooting me, and plays it off as a joke. All while taking his pocket knife out and opening it a couple times.

Then he starts asking me if I believe in jesus. I say yes as I believe their was a guy who existed that the stories in the bible are based on.

Then he starts talking about how the ten commandment are really there so we can lead good lives because if you have sex with another mans wife the husband will kill you.

Then he started talking about how we're meant to read the bible all the time and love Jesus and all of that, and in the middle of this he took my picture with his phone and asked what my name was.

So I took all my laundry out of the dryer which was thankfully all dry by now, put it in my basket unfolded and left.
