HELP! My city trying to force SMART METERS on my property
Just got a letter from the city, letter includes

"This letter is to inform you of your city's initiative to upgrade its water meter reading system. This project began in 2012 and will see the replacement of all manually read water meters with new digital water meters by the end of 2015.

"The new meters will each contain a transmitter that will communicate usage date promptly and wirelessly to your city"

Goes on to say that its so they can inform you if you ever have a problem and that its free...and to scheduel an appointment...

"If you do not schedule an appointment for this replacement, you will risk an interruption of service at the property"

Its been a while since I have done research on smart meters. Cant I fight this? Who do I get in contact with?

And they will probably charge you a monthly fee to come out and read the old analogue meter...

Insist on the dumb meters...that way when the morans come onto your property to read the stupid meters you can tell them they are trespassing...see, you can't have it both ways.

I agree, don't let them trespass and reject the smart meters, rip them off your house and toss them in the street and tell them to shove all their utilities straight up their assholes.

Maybe a letter back to them:

"I do NOT consent to having any of your employees enter on to my property to remove any equipment or install any new equipment.

You may, however, approach the premises to take a reading of your current meter.

Trespassing is illegal and you are hereby notified as such and are not welcome on my property."

Eventually they will just shut your water off to force you to switch. Sucks not to have running water in your house. Thank God for wells. hf

Re: HELP! My city trying to force SMART METERS on my property
Why should you care if there's a digital meter vs an analogue?

It's another way to fuck you, if you are a slave, and servant to the system...slaves will complain to a point, and then be cut off and left to die.

You seem to be under the illusion that your property didn't come with an easement attached to it that explicitly grants utility companies access to certain areas that has their equipment, wiring, and pipes.

Legally, that are not trespassing.

Re: HELP! My city trying to force SMART METERS on my property
We refused to contract with them.

Now we pay an extra $13 a month to not have a smart meter. $95 sign up for not smart meter.

It's worth it.

Re: HELP! My city trying to force SMART METERS on my property
Mine went in the basement, I put a Faraday cage around it, left a small opening pointing through the block towards the street.

No readable RF 2 feet away.
