If it actually goes truly airborne, combined with the 2 to 21 day potential incubation period... well let's just say lots of people are already fucked. First sign of it appearing in the UK, I'm booking myself two weeks off work and not going near anyone. |

USA hospitals do not send the body home with the family wrapped in a sheet. We have better sanitation, better detection, and better treatment. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58351617 The only way Ebola will get off the ground in the states is if they give it a push, like they do every year with the flu vaccine. Without the shots, the flu would not be a yearly pandemic. One infected touching the door handle of a McDonalds Restaurant, sitting on a chair, leaning his sweaty arms on the table to chomp on his Burger, putting back his tablet, paid with cash, the cashier touching stuff etc. To quote "The Stand": "This thing was lost when Campion bought his first Burger". Do not underestimate how many pigs don´t wash their hands. i was thinking of cashiers at walmart..ebola cooties to cashier via the money and wow, all day long there she will be just passing it out like halloween candy. talk about exponential growth at its maximum. |

Meaning everything will be in place to move the Important People and everything will be in place and at the ready to set up Road Blocks and Close Borders. You will not get a heads up. They will not give the population any indication of anything until they act. You will get up one morning only to find out you are trapped where you are. There are Curfews and orders to shelter in place and the grocery stores will be out of everything that same day. You will be sitting there with little or no supplies and food in your house saying SHIT!. Why didn't I listen to all the warnings and peope saying to prep last week. Then you will have to sit there with nothing waiting to here when the next delivery of Ready to Eat Meals is being delivered to a Neighborhood near you. Fun Ha! So why are you still reluctantly waiting to get supplies. Willful Ignorance...? |

This is an unprecedented outbreak accompanied by unprecedented challenges. And these challenges are extraordinary. [snip] It is the largest in terms of geographical areas already affected and others at immediate risk of further spread. [snip] Let me give you some frank assessments of what we face. And by “we”, I mean your countries and your neighbours, WHO and its partners in outbreak response, including civil society organizations, and the international community, including countries on other continents that can give you the support you so clearly need. First, this outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it. If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries. As I said before, this meeting must mark a turning point in the outbreak response. In addition, the outbreak is affecting a large number of doctors, nurses, and other health care workers, one of the most essential resources for containing an outbreak. To date, more than 60 health care workers have lost their lives in helping others. Some international staff are infected. These tragic infections and deaths significantly erode response capacity. Second, the situation in West Africa is of international concern and must receive urgent priority for decisive action at national and international levels. Experiences in Africa over nearly four decades tell us clearly that, when well managed, an Ebola outbreak can be stopped. This is not an airborne virus. Transmission requires close contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person, also after death. Apart from this specific situation, the general public is not at high risk of infection by the Ebola virus. [snip] Third, this is not just a medical or public health problem. It is a social problem. Deep-seated beliefs and cultural practices are a significant cause of further spread and a significant barrier to rapid and effective containment. [snip] Fourth, in some areas, chains of transmission have moved underground. They are invisible. They are not being reported. Because of the high fatality rate, many people in affected areas associate isolation wards with a sure death sentence, and prefer to care for loved ones in homes or seek assistance from traditional healers. [snip] Finally, despite the absence of a vaccine or curative therapy, Ebola outbreaks can most certainly be contained. Bedrocks of outbreak containment include early detection and isolation of cases, contact tracing and monitoring of contacts, and rigorous procedures for infection control. [snip] Depending on the epidemiological situation, your governments may need to impose some restrictions, for example, on population movements and public gatherings. [snip] Under the provisions of the International Health Regulations, I have convened an Emergency Committee that will meet on 6 August to assess the international implications of West Africa’s outbreak. Comment: I find the statements of Chan both telling and chilling. WHO: It is out of control. We have been able to control outbreaks in the past, so we can control this one. But we can't control it for the reasons stated, and can see no way to overcome many of the issues required to control it, so other countries are at HIGH RISK. [link to who.int] Simultaneous out break in three different African cities, all the while with this agenda bullshit to control the population sounds to me a deliberate attack to over whelm the system towards achieving that agenda. |

Dr. Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organization, said the meeting in Conakry "must be a turning point" in the battle against Ebola, which is now sickening people in three African capitals for the first time in history. "If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socio-economic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries," she said. At least 729 people in four countries — Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria — have died since cases first emerged back in March. While health officials say the virus is transmitted through direct contact with bodily fluids, many sick patients have refused to go to isolation centers. Umm.. forgetting something? Look at the graphs. It is speeding up and the curve is getting steeper. It is going exponential. This is exactly what would be expected; seemingly low numbers to start with, then all of a sudden it seems to be crazy. Like if you keep doubling a number every day. For the first few weeks its relatively low numbers, but by the end of the month its over a billion. The RATE of transmission increases as more people get it. Ebola is probably already all around us right now. It is probably in your locality. But you won't notice for a few weeks. |
