New Philadelphia GameStop Policy Requires Customer FINGERPRINTS When Trading In Games
"Folks outside a GameStop in Center City tell KYW Newsradio they were not thrilled with the company policy for anyone selling used games to the store:

“I really don’t appreciate it. You fingerprinted me like I’m in a police district. No, I’m at a game store.”

“That is a little absurd, it’s just a video game.”

“I think it’s an overreach. It’s going too far.”

“I know that it only happens to people who go to jail, they get fingerprinted.”

“When I went, I got my finger scanned when he broke it out and said ‘I need your fingerprint,’ I said, ‘for what’?'”

The Philadelphia Police Department says the company is being proactive by storing fingerprints in a secure database – LeadsOnline – which is the nation’s largest online investigation system."

Know your rights people.

They are setting up a fingerprint system little by little.

First it is by choice, when the majority comply, then it is NO LONGER A CHOICE

They've done it out here because their individual ID #s (consoles, not games) can be tracked for theft if needed, so they had to conform to pawn broker laws for computer systems if the need arrived.

Re: New Philadelphia GameStop Policy Requires Customer FINGERPRINTS When Trading In Games
I was in a GameStop in the north Texas area recently and a kid and his father were there to trade in some games. The clerk asked if the kid of his Dad had a TX ID or passport. They had just relocated because the dad was in the military. GameStop would not accept his military ID. Me and some other customers called BS on this practice.

I asked what the hell was wrong with accepting military ID instead of a Texas ID or passport. It was then that I was informed that it's not a GameStop policy but rather a township regulation. The reason for this is, GameStop is actually a specialized pawn shop. That is how each of them has to register in the city they open their stores in to be able to buy products from the public. So it's strange practices are not GameStop's corporate policies. It is actually the regulations they have to abide by in whatever township they are in.

In Florida pawn shops you do a thumbprint as well as have a VALID (current) ID with image on it. I've gotton into a lot of spats with people that had expired driver licenses who cannot pawn stuff.

A while back my step child wanted a game...got it and didn't like it. Well we were going to sell it to GameStop and they wanted to give me 75 cents. Forget that...I just gave it away to some kid who couldn't afford games.

Bullshit. I traded in an Xbox 360 console last month with no fingerprinting. But we're in Texas, and I guess they know we won't put up with that shit here.

People still go to the store to purchase games? I can guarantee that I can find any game someone wants to get for at least 1/6th the price on the internet.

The amount of people defending this policy in the comment section of the CBS article is SICKENING.

Either the paid trolls have been sent to the site or there really is no hope for humanity.

I really hope it is just trolls.
Question everything.....

While still believing in the overall good of humanity!
