Re: Story On Ebola Patient Dr Brantly Keeps Changing
I can tell you this much...

The word SERUM is not used in medicine other than to designate a component of another biological fluid... Like "Blood Serum".
And the words Blood Serum are now replaced with Blood Plasma.

In medicine there are only a few examples of the word serum being used: maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein, serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase, and serum hepatitis

There are many examples of this type of wording misconception.

Another that comes to mind are the terms "Mold and Mildew".

ANy fungus found in the home is Mold... period. Mildew is a fungus that is found growing on the leaves of certain plants. Most people refer to the black crap on their shower walls as Mold and Mildew... but a Environmental Engineer or Industrial Hygenist would laugh a bit to himself and ask so where is the mold and where is the mildew.

My point,,, NO DOCTOR, ANYWHERE uses the word serum...EVER.

Re: Story On Ebola Patient Dr Brantly Keeps Changing
Have they even shown Dr Brantly since his arrival? Maybe he died when he got here and they are covering it up for fear of panic? This all does sound very fishy. Something strange is up with this situation!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59552647

I know. All we've seen is a guy in a white tyvec suit. But given his miraculous recovery we should see something soon.

Maybe he was never sick?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61126166

Maybe black genetics more susceptible to this virus?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46348647

That's what I've read. Immune systems not as able to fight it off. Almost like some one did it on purpose IMO.

I remember reading reports that they were doing fine, and thinking Hmmmmmm, why.

Then I started reading posts (obviously from shills) saying "The American doc is strong, he's getting the best treatment, etc. He'll make it.

But you see, that story won't fly for a 60 year old woman.

If SHE makes it, and the black West Africans don't, well then we've got ourselves a conspiracy don't we?

That's when the "miracle cure" stories started coming in. And the shills were everywhere. I book marked a piece I thought interesting:

(Replace the oo in the word rooters with eu)

Look at the way this article is set up. Like they are trying to make it look like the aid Nancy, has lost her husband. Who is white. The pic has NOTHING to do with what this article is about.

This all has a really REALLY bad fish smell to it.

Don't take the ebola vaccine! Feds are testing it on humans now. They want to the scare the hell out of everyone like they did with H1N1. Soon, ebola will be mixed in with general flu shots, the way they did H1N1.

Why do the white Americans qualify for a little drinky-poo of the magic potion while the poor dirty Africans they were there to help were left to excrete the linings of their bowels as their helpless families watched them bleed to death?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2975163

Because Americans take care of their own first. Assuming everything is on the up and up those Africans will benefit from the serum more than anyone... Assuming they can come up with the tens of thousands of dollars one dosage will cost.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61172284

If they take care of their own first, why weren't they fighting AIDS in Detroit or pellagra in the Applachians, laddy? Don't forget, these were humanitarian volunteers. But when the heat got hot, they sucked down all the serum they could and bolted to infect the rest of us.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2975163

Where did this experimental serum come from?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46348647

This is what the article says

A representative from the National Institutes of Health contacted Samaritan's Purse in Liberia and offered the experimental treatment, known as ZMapp, for the two patients, according to the source.

The drug was developed by the biotech firm Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc. The patients were told that this treatment had never been tried before in a human being but had shown promise in small experiments with monkeys.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61126166

They have been working on this up in Montana as well. This is from last year

Seems to me that the good doctor knew that the blood transfusion from the 14 year old boy who survived ebola was the real deal.

God forbid the only cure for ebola would rest in the hands of the few West Africans that survived the disease. In their blood.

Could you imagine what a pint of that blood could fetch on the open market? Ebay anyone?

Can't have THAT now can we?

I'll see if I can find the thread. But I do believe that was a reference to Patrick Saywer, the man who died in Nigeria, after vomiting on a plane. He went crazy when they told him he was tested positive for Ebola. He proceeded to urinate on medical staff.

It was Doorbert's Ebola thread. I posted it. And yes it was Patrick Sawyer who was said to have done it. AND there is a lot of talk in the comment section of that thread eluding to the strange short period of time between when he pissed on the hospital workers, and his death. Some saying it was way too quick.

Some even speculating that the staff, knowing full well that the guy probably just gave them all the ebola virus ........ purposefully euthanized him. Thus the quick death and the quick cremation of the body.

That was not Sierra Leon's doctor. From what I've read he was a very good man.

what happened to the story that he bravely gave his "serum" to Nancy, since there was only one available?

this was just days ago....

and, not for nothing, when he came to ATL (lol) CNN said the plane was turning around right then and there to go and get her, and bring her back right away. Didn't happen.

They're rewriting the script right now. This new version is most likely the propaganda.

They will never want to admit that a miracle may have occurred and God is capable of miracles. So now they have to rewrite the script to try to convince people that there is a miracle science cure that is viable.

Laugh all you like haters.

Man, you realize that Ebola itself would have come from God? And Ebola's ability to target Humans also would have been God's handiwork?

This is like someone sticking a gun to your head and then saying they won't shoot you, and you gleefully cheer that they saved you from certain death. It's not "saving" when you put the person in the situation to begin with. We call it "playing God". And it's not a compliment.
