Re: Ebola Game Changer - Urgent!
The implications for the spread are sobering. This means we are probably counting down to catastrophe. This means the virus WILL CERTAINLY be spreading exponentially because people are passing it on without realising they are ill. If each infected person gives it to just two people over the 21 days of incubation, then we are looking at well over a billion infections by the end of this month.

GLP has stumbled on real doom, and now its going to get us all. I wish I was being alarmist here, but there is simply nothing anyone can do to stop this spread now. How can you quarantine if you can't tell who is sick and spreading it? Its too late for quarantine now. The storm is coming, enjoy the last days of calm.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 53990064

You 'wish' you were being alarmist? You are. She indicated that they want to monitor those in contact, not that they were infected. You're stretching to create panic.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60828972

No. She said that they urgently needed more resources because they needed to trace EVERYONE who had been in contact with the infected in the 21 days previous to them showing symptoms. I was eating my breakfast and nearly choked. The spokeswomen herself was showing a certain degree of seriousness about the situation that the media talking heads aren't.

Whilst it is true that the virus is not going to pass to every person who comes into contact with an infected during incubation, do the maths. Consider that, over a three week period (the 21 day incubation), a single infected person only has to pass it to 2 other people, for over one billion people to be infected by the end of this month.

Now, consider the average citizen, like you or I, in a developed nation. How many places will you visit, and how many people will you come into close proximity/contact with over a three week period? And some still think that this isn't spreading?

To those who doubt the seriousness of this I would ask again; explain just how this virus is realistically going to stop. How can it burn itself out, as other Ebola outbreaks have, when there is no possible way to limit the fuel (people) available to the virus?

This.....kinda changes everything. Can you imagine just, thousands of people coming down with it at the same time in a couple weeks? It could infect giants swaths of the country literally overnight!

People bleeding, looking crazy, mumbling, milling around all of a s uddenn one night?

Damn.

This whole damn county is primed and ready for some zombie killin.

That's just tragic as hell. And NOW you know why they call television "programming" which is precisely why we shut ours off long, long ago.

We noticed strange behaviors in people and just, really wierd stuff all the time and it took us a while to realize why..they..They're DOING SOMETHING TO PEOPLE THROUGH TV!

I swear its true, my wife sees it too. Everybody that watches tv is having their brains messed with, I shit you not.
“The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power. My Mother had taught me to seek all truth in the Bible.”

It is paradoxical, yet true, to say, that the more we know, the more ignorant we become in the absolute sense, for it is only through enlightenment that we become conscious of our limitations. Precisely one of the most gratifying results of intellectual evolution is the continuous opening up of new and greater prospects.

do we believe the media hype? or just ignore and take our usual stance that this is your typical false flag type dealy?

but they appear to be very lax. hype it up/insist it isnt airborne/continue with the hype/keep allowing people to travel freely

i mean, which is it?

approx 800 officially. bet its twice that

well, i guess we will know just how virulent it is soon enough

the medics on the ground have been asking for travel restrictions for months, to no avail

Exactly. The people battling this on the front line knew months ago that the only chance of containing this was slipping by - and the rest of the world did nothing. The official figures are meaningless. The nature of this is that most people coming down with this are not going to hospital and are not on the official figures.

Even in developed countries, official figures will be meaningless if hundreds of thousands suddenly develop symptoms. Most people will just stay in bed. People, even here in the west, won't want to go to the doctors or hospital - they will be isolated from family. Anyway, why would you want to go to seek medical help, when there is little the medical authorities could do for you anyway - you are just going to expose more people and put anyone else who helps you get there at risk.

Nope. What we will see is people calling ambulances or seeking medical help when the numbers are very low. Once the numbers get high then official figures are irrelevant and most people are going to be suffering without publicity.

Re: Ebola Game Changer - Urgent!
URGENT
We have all heard the official line that this strain of 'Ebola is not contagious during the 21 day incubation period, but the lie has just been exposed.

SKY NEWS (UK), approx. 09.40, Tuesday 5th August:
Sarah-Jane Mee interviewed a spokeswoman for Médecins Sans Frontières. They discussed the situation in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, where MSF have been operating since the start of the outbreak. Sarah-Jane asked the woman what needs to be done to get the outbreak 'under control.' The MSF spokeswoman's answer was disturbing.

She specifically said that many more resources are needed, especially to trace people. She went on to say that the authorities needed to trace everyone who those who fall sick with Ebola had come into contact with for the previous 21 days.

This was not a slip of the tongue or an 'off-the-cuff' passing remark. She said, clearly and deliberately, that the people who have been in contact with an Ebola victim over the 21 days prior to them showing symptoms (i.e. the incubation period) needed to be traced as a matter of urgency.

This explicitly means that, MSF at least, consider the virus is spreading during the incubation period (and that MSF consider the incubation period to be a whopping 21 days - not the 'couple of days' some are banding about). Should we pay attention to MSF? Yes. They have more experience in fighting Ebola, of various strains, than any other organisation in the world - over 15 outbreaks previous to this one, according to the same spokeswoman.

So there you have it. The main organisation, fighting Ebola on the ground, categorically thinks that the virus is contagious during the incubation period. This has massive implications for the spread of the virus.

Do you think that this virus could be used as a mass Suicide attack?
Al Qaeda gets hold if a Ebola victim or bodily fluids. If one and then
all the jihadis get infected and then purposely fly out to the west and spread it?
Scary thought also.
Or is that a ridiculous thought?

Ebola Incubation Period

The Ebola incubation period is the period of time between infection with the Ebola virus and the appearance of symptoms associated with the disease. The Ebola incubation period can be as short as 2 days or as long as 21 days.

Ebola Incubation Period: An Overview

When a person becomes infected with the Ebola virus, the virus enters the body and begins to multiply. The virus can travel in the blood to almost any part of the body, including the:

After four to six days on average, symptoms of Ebola can begin. The period between the transmission of the virus and the start of Ebola symptoms is called the Ebola incubation period. The Ebola incubation period can be as short as 2 days or as long as 21 days.

Is a Person Contagious During the Ebola Incubation Period?

Even if a person exhibits no signs or symptoms of Ebola, he or she can still spread the virus during the Ebola incubation period. Once Ebola virus symptoms begin, the person can remain contagious for about three more weeks.

We have to remember though, this could all be a charade. Isn't mainstream news the only source for all this?

Something doesn't add up also, considering that it has been 4 months now with this outbreak, and there is not even millions affected.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61209368

People, you need to look at the real situation, not the confirmed numbers. The armed forces of both Sierra Leone and Liberia are currently forming up to conduct mass searches of villages in the countryside; the authorities there have NO IDEA of how many infected there are.

Plus, 'patient zero' in terms of exponential spread (think flights, people on buses - modern urban spread) was not at the start of the outbreak, but rather the first person to get on an international flight - which may well have been the guy who flew to Lagos. It is from there that people need to start watching. So, actually, the probably figures are about right on track for the billion+ infected by the end of this month. Of course, we won't know there are a billion infected until near the end of September, when they start showing symptoms, but by then there will be billions more infected.

Have you ever sat next to someone who coughed and MICROSCOPIC DROPLETS of sputem landed on your Big Mac? You probably don't know.

We are in close contact with LOTS of people every day, and don't even know which ones have been exposed to someone else, and are now carriers. THAT won't become obvious for a few weeks yet.

Think about the long time lag from exposure to full-on infection. THREE WEEKS from the first person. Where do they go? How many "doorknobs" do they touch? How many people do they infect, which takes three MORE WEEKS, and so one.

Think before you ask someone a ridiculous question that has no merit.

Of course it's twice that. At least 1600 (more likely 2000) contracted it if 800 have died so far (they say the death rate is 50-60%).

So 2000 have been infected. Now look at how many are "coming home to avoid the disease" NOT KNOWING THEY ALREADY HAVE THE DISEASE and will soon spread it to their own families.

Lord help us all.

Well that was an interesting theory, and it made my blood run cold. But I don't think so, and here is why:

Those bodies were - um, intact. Bloodless, but intact.

From what I can gather about how a person dies from this disease, their organs literally just turn to jelly, and they bleed out - from the inside out - leaving them to look like a spineless fish, with no organs left.

I guess I'm saying I would expect a corpse with Ebola to look totally UNLIKE another type of corpse, and be easily recognizable as some horribly diseased thing, with no form or even not even resembling a person anymore.

Idk, maybe I'm wrong.

My fear is that I'm going back to a classroom full of little petri dishes, and they will not only infect each other, but ME as well!

It's not MY children I fear, but I was already suspicious of all those who've been flown into our area from our southern border who will be enrolled into our school. And now on top of that, the fear that even ONE child coming into our school has been exposed to this newest virus.....

That is one frightening thought - that we all get exposed once school starts all across the country. One school after another, little children all taking it home to their families BEFORE we realize it and shut schools down.
